Hi girls nerves have well and truly kicked in I’m having my BA tomoro at the Fitzroy with Dr Marcellino my admission time is 7.30am.

I’m having moderate profile over the muscle

    Just wondering…

    1. What’s these drains your all talking about will I be having them and that are they for ? My PC or nurse hasn’t mentioned them to me

    2. Do they put a urinary catheter in for u to wee during surgery ? Isit painful if so ?

    3. Feeling so nervous today I feel sick keep thinking I’m going to wake up and instantly regret it I don’t know why iv been fine up until now, did anyone else feel like this?

Drains arent used all of the time, they are only used if they need to be used and only some surgeons use them, it’s to drain out any excess fluid in your breast after your surgery.
You will have to have a wee before you to in for surgery because they will use it to do a pregnancy test, and the surgery doesn’t last long so you won’t need a catheter in because your bladder won’t be full due to having a wee before surgery and the surgery not taking long anyway
As for the nerves, I had my surgery on Friday and I was so nervous last week I felt like I was going to be sick every time I thought about it, but on the actual day of the surgery I didn’t really have time to be nervous and the day goes so so quick so don’t worry about it too much, you will be fine! Xxx

That’s completely normal, it would be more worrying if you wasn’t worried haha, everyone gets worried about something whether it’s the actual surgery or something going wrong afterwards, but there are people there throughout your journey to help with reassurance and if anything was to go wrong, also you have to think of how many times the surgeons have done this procedure, they do it for a living, so it’s unlikely that anything will go wrong and even if it does they will know how to fix it. Try enjoy your day, it’s so worth the wait and the anxiety, you won’t regret it, good luck!xxx
