    @sarah I had my surgery done at the London clinic and had a bad reaction to the sedation, I was at the clinic for nearly 12 hours, there is no way I could have driven anywhere, I couldn’t even hardly stand up without collapsing, the clinic got me a taxi to my hotel where I extended my stay to 2 nights post op. I’m just saying to maybe make arrangements in case you react badly too. I left all my leakage at the clinic and hotel, god knows what they must have thought lol!! The leaking does smell a bit but it’s not that, a bit musty smelling. Xx

    @lianne hmmm I live in South Shields so will be just over 2 hours! I think after speaking with Katt I’m a little jubious maybe I’ll have a hotel picked just I case where I can book last min and obv depends on time of my op I.e avoiding rush hour traffic! So many things to account for!!! What’s your post op aftercare been like?

    Is everyone finding massaging useful? I have a beautician who does ultrasonic massage with the rays of light.. Would that be advisable or literally just massage?

    I don’t want to scare anyone off but I was in no fit state to do anything lol! I just stayed in an ibis, you wouldn’t be able to drive yourself, you have to have a chaperone with you when you arrive and leave. It’s Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage, it’s very light and they use their hands and a machine, I had a session today, it was nice. I found the lady I use in the MLD website, you just put in your postcode and it will bring up qualified people near you. Xxx

    We stayed in the Holiday inn express junction 36 as it was only about a 15 minute drive to the clinic. I booked to stay the evening before as I had requested an early slot but ended up not going down until 3pm ish but I was totally fine on the drive home infact I had a great sleep in the car 🙂

    I’ll got my partner to take some pics the night before and I will get some more pics up once i’ve been showered and the swelling has gone down 🙂

    @Sarah
    I couldnt smell anything and I also didn’t feel like i’d leaked, although when she changed my dressings she said they were wet so I had leaked which was good but i didnt ‘drip’ as some other girls have experienced. My aftercare has been great, I was given the 24 hour emergency number and given 2 post op appointments and they are close by if I need to go back down to see Beccy the nurse. xxx

    @lianne I do massage after the shower when I’m nice and warm I use baby oil as it’s nice and slippy and good for moisturising too which helps your skin shrink back 🙂

    @Sarah
    the leak has a distinct smell to it. It’s not really bad it’s just like nothing I’ve smelled before it’s got a bit of a chemical hospital sort of tinge to it. You will soon know anyway let us know how you would describe it lol! Glad the tips come in handy I would have loved some before I had it done but there wasn’t many people about who were either willing to share or who had actually had Vaser!!
    @Katt you had such a rough time with it! By far the worst out of all of us I would say! You’re right tho defo best to get googling a holiday in near by @Sarah just to be prepared! Apparently ultrasonic massage is the one to go for if you want something other than traditional – I’m not sure what benefits the light would be but I know @porkychop has had fab results after ultrasound massage. I’ve had it before and it did wonders for my injured shoulder! But then I guess if you don’t want to pay for the massage then you can do it yourself. You can get home ultrasound massage kits off amazon etx… @porkychop didn’t the clinic recommend one to you? If you don’t mind sharing I wouldn’t mind some advice I might get one myself!

    @Sarah
    check out my patient story if you wanna talk about classy girls lol if you’re booked in for Vaser then you better leave your modesty at the door that’s all I’ll say!!

    I’m having a down day today if I’m honest. Just got out the shower now and done my massage. The bruising is pretty much gone now on outer thighs but I’m still purple inner thighs. I’m not lumpy or anything I’m just a bit down with how swollen I still am. Grant warned me that legs swell and that I am VERY swollen but I’m just so gutted tonight I feel like it’s not really going down any and I’ve paid all this money an gone through the operation to still feel massive 🙁 gonna get an early night I think to try and get out of this depressed mood 🙁

    @dan Haha modesty…. What modesty :p it’s so worth it I bet!!! I’ve had the ultrasound before on my face and skin feels smoother after so might speak to the nurse after next consultation!!! The 7th feels a year away but it’ll fly 😀 don’t be down I’ve just checked your pics and you can tell a difference already look at your thigh gap already and your swollen and in nude coloured tights! Give it time the results will defo come … Like you I’ll want it straight away however look at the pics on here of people post op who’ve gone a few weeks 🙂 keep smiling 😀 xxx

    Hey girlies!

    @Dan – hun its hard to not be able to see the results, and the uncertainty of what they will match up to your expectations is killing! But we all have to be patient – it is def the hardest bit! My legs look the same as before if not bigger I think at the moment. But give it at LEAST a month, if not the 3-6 months when you still continue seeing results. Its really hard to tell with legs as they really do swell like you say. We also have to be a bit realistic with results – like Grant said to me he cant give me supermodel legs which are stick thin because I have muscles and if you’ve been working out Im sure you re in the same boat. You wouldn’t want to look that unhealthy anyway! And look it at this way – if the results aren’t exactly as good as you would like them to be and you need to spend a little longer at the gym to trim don a bit more to your bream body, then so be it but at least you got a massive helping hand with vaser. I know it can be hard to justify because it is all very pricey but it is important we are realistic and I think Grant is normally good at that. But of course you will have down days. Just think you are ahead of all us girls on here and will be the first to recover probably 🙂 And yes you do def look smaller in your pix! I’m sure you’ll be modelling some hot pants for us in no time 😉

    My legs are still bruised but also have lots of yellow inner bruising and swelling on the inner thighs. But am nearly back to full range of movement when I squat. Slowly…

    @Sarah
    – With the ultrasound – yes – it is the ultrasonic/InfraRed/EMS device which Grants clinic recommended. Mine arrived this morning and I have just done a session on myself. They feel good. It’s meant to help more with the skin rejuvenation, and to be done alongside ordinary massage. But whatever works for you.

    Ultrasonic info and tips from therapist:

    So any machine which is a 3 in 1, and which has ultrasonic, EMS and infrared, and is one megahertz. The one I have bough is here for 69 quid but you may be able to find it for cheaper. A lot of these are listed as ’body slimming’ rather than pain relief but she said they will help with the pain. There is actually no solid research to say that ultrasound helps, but it really helped me.
    For the treatment, you will need to get some ultrasound gel (or ky jelly). Message each area (for example side of left thigh) in small circles towards the heart for ten minutes. It is best to do lymohatic massage to warm up the skin first, then ultrasound. If you divide the thighs into 10 by 10 inch squares it would mean that you spend 10 mins on each area, so 40 mins in total. The head of the massager will feel warm but as long as you keep moving it, it’s fine. Never use any oil products for the ultrasound massage.

    The one I bought: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11400.m1842.l3160/7?euid=2648d90868a14547b4f588c34ef71139&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D221383899425%26ssPageName%3DADME%3AL%3AOC%3AGB%3A3160

    It’s called 3in1 Portable 1MHz Ultrasound Infrared EMS Physio Therapy Machine.

    @Katt – wow what a difference to your tummy I am so jealous! You can see such a big difference straight away and you are only post op – imagine the final result! Amazing xxx

    @porkychop – I am now 4 days post op and I sleep with my feet slightly elevated for half of the night but in the middle of the night I tend to kick it away as my back hurts, I have been working from home this week so i’ve been trying to sit with my laptop infront of my with my feet elevated by my legs seem to hurt when elevated does that happen for you, they seem to go a bit numb but are fine when i Sit normally?

    How long have you been advised to wear the padded vest?

    How soon after were you allowed to massage and how often do you do it?

    How soon after your op were you allowed to use bio oil, arnica etc?

    Im finding movement is so much easier today I managed another one hour walk with my dogs and have cooked and done housework and tried a few slow squats earlier to see how my movement was and there was no pain. My only pain now is the back of my thighs just under my butt and my inner thigh just a slight pain which I think will get easier when I start massaging.

    Sorry for all the questions just want to make sure i’m doing everything right to get the best results 🙂 xxx

    @Lianne, Ive had thighs done so I dont have a vest but I have my leggings which I need to wear for 4-6 weeks. I started the massage day 7 lightly and then was able to put more pressure on as the pain eased off – I had 4 litres removed so im still quite sore if I jog up the stairs or if I accidentally catch my leg 🙁 I will be 4 weeks post op this saturday. I was told I could use arnica from day 2 and bio oil after I have showered. they recommend massage as soon as possible (grant says day 2) but I couldnt manage til day 7 as I was so sore!

    @Sarah
    okay im convinced! Im going for ultrasound massage – what the hell!! See how it goes! thanks for the support, Im feeling loads better today Ive ordered myself a new garment from MACOM and Ive just put it on and I feel AMAZING!!! So chuffed! feel loads less swollen too and I think the new small garment is helping I feel loads more supported!

    @porkychop
    thanks hun!! I was having a rotten day was feeling dead fat and swollen and after a bad day at work and still being on a diet I just felt crappy but im loads better today like Ive said.. I have my ups and downs but I guess thats understandable since swelling changes day to day. Thanks sooooooo much for the ebay link I am defo getting one for myself!! Gonna try a lady near me from the MLD website in the interim of me ordering but I will defo be purchasing a home kit! I stopped sleeping with my legs up last week so now I tend to do maybe an hour of an evening while reading or watching TV or on here with my laptop on my knee with my legs on a pile of pillows to help with the swelling. I think the only reason I slept like that so long is cos it hurt to lie on my side (how I normally sleep) now I can do that its just natural for me!

    glad to hear everyone seems to be doing well today! must be a good day all round! Happy Happy 🙂 xxx

    @dan – great stuff! When it arrives you want to have the IR setting, as well as the ultrasonc on high. And just do smal circles towards the body using a gel or ky jelly or any lubricating gel really.. Ah ok that’s good to kne about the legs – I’ve been doing it religiously but wondered how long I should continue for.

    @lianne
    – yes actually that’s the most tender place for me – just under the butt at the back of thighs, and the inner thighs. I think it’s cos swelling gathers there because of gravity. Not sure what can be done about it, will have a little research and share if I find anything. They do go a bit numb yes. Not found a cure yet.

    I also get a very funny numb feeling when my thighs rub skin to skin if I’m changing. It’s a very strange sensation, really hope it comes back to normal soon.

    Re:massage – I had this on day 2 post op. was tender and uncomfortable but bearable. It only gets better from then on though I find

    yes, were doing good girlies! keep going xxx

    Hey ladies,

    So I didn’t have my shower last night as my partner wasn’t here just as a back up, so I am starting to feel stinky haha, tonight is the night, it’s shower night and i’m going to take a peek, i’m excited and nervous eeek 🙂

    Ok been given some conflicting information about the massages too: – Because I wasn’t given any information about the massage or the ultrasound I decided to contact my nurse, she wasn’t available so they got the nurse from Leeds to call me and she said they do advise the Lymphatic drainage massage but only after 2 weeks, but @dan was advised she could do if after 2 days?! Also she said she had never heard the surgeon advise of the ultrasound before so she went and actually spoke to the surgeon who said it won’t do any harm but it’s not something they recommend and that I should just go and have one or two sessions of LMD. xxx

    Menu

    I’ve had some MLD already, the therapist I use said it’s better to start soon after surgery to aid healing, works in the U.K. and at the worlds leading MLD clinic in Austria so I trust her and she’s been lovely. I’ve had 2 sessions and it’s so much better already, just a bit of bruising to go, she advised 2 more sessions and that will be it. She said I have good skin and I’m young so I heal quickly. I did buy some bio oil today though to keep my skin moisturised. It was only advised at the clinic with MYA when I asked about it after seeing people talking about it on here. Xxx

    Awww thanks @JoJo64 its a long road but we have all helped eachother!!

    Well today is officially 4 weeks post op for me and I have taken my garment off this morning and used my new ultrasound machine – AND IT BROKE!!! It turned itself off and wont come back on again Ive had murder with Ebay and PayPal trying to get hold of the seller to get a replacement and after a night at work til midnnight doing sport relief I’m tired and grumpy and could have done without the agro!! On the plus side tho the new small garment I have ordered from MACOM – OH MY GOD I LOVE IT!!! Best thing Ive ever bought… I know we only have to do 4 weeks continous wear and then 2 weeks night times but I dont care I am gonna wear this new one for at least another two weeks and sort myself out some massage to go with it! Bruising is still there on my inner thighs but its totally gone from outer now and I think I will be off to the gym at some stage this weekend to start myself off slowly 🙂

    @porkychop
    have you had any issues with your machine since you got it? @lianne gutted you didnt get your shower on time? How was it in the end? I think a few of the clinics get told different things… I was told about the massage and stuff at manchester but they didnt mention ultrasound thats just something Ive read up on myself and it cant do any harm so i thought why not! Glad we had the tip on what machine to get just gutted mine seems to be faulty! 🙁

    Hope you all have a lovely weekend ladies pain free and swelling reduced!! xxx

    Hey Ladies,

    Had issues getting on here overt he weekend.

    Ok so I had my shower and at the moment I can’t see any difference, that might just be due to the swelling so im trying not to get disheartened and think positive, surely i’ve had this fat sucked outta me there must be some change so it’s just a waiting game. I had my first massage on Friday and it was lovely, i’m booked in for a further 2 sessions and will see if I feel like I need any more aftert hat. I have my second post op today so will see what they say about my results so far and whether i’m healing properly 🙂 xxx

    Menu

    Hi Ladies

    Yes I too had trouble getting on here, not sure why it was down…
    @Dan – oh no how annoying! No I haven’t had any issues with mine, although not sure how long that is going to last….. 4 weeks wow! Are you happy with your results now or do you think you still need to give it more time to see them get even better? What’s your new garment like – is it just leggings? I have had to buy a pair of Spanx because my garment was already quite loose! I called MYA and they said to bring the extra one they gave in and they’ll see if they can swap it for a smaller one, but no guarantee… The MACOM ones they gave me are a small already perhaps they do extra small or maybe I can just put it through the wash at high temp? My Spanx are great though, I would recommend! I find they are tighter than the garment around the knees (I had thighs and knees done). I got these – http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005KSRMIA
    @Dan which MACOM did you buy?

    But I went out for dinner last weekend and dressed up, put some nice heels on and lippie and finally felt human again after a week of moping around the house in the same smelly garment…. That was a good feeling 🙂

    Still carrying on with the massage and ultrasonic, not sure which out of the two helps more or if its the combination, but I’m just gna continue.

    @lianne

    @PORKYCHOP My 2nd post op went well she said i’m healing nicely, and that I have to keep the bullet proof vest on for at least 2 weeks and then a further 2 weeks just as many hours per day as I can manage and asked if I could get back to the gym but at the mo it’s not advisable, I can walk and do light exercise but if you go on the treadmill or cross trainer even though your incisions seems healed they can open up and get infected, so got to wait a tiny bit longer for that. She said i’ve been doing everything right and that the legs swell more than anywhere else so results take longer to see, but my stomach/hip area is getting smaller by the day so thats all very exciting everytime I take the garment off 🙂
    How did your post op go?

    I did think that when I no longer have to wear my bullet proof vest my garment will be very loose so I will need to get a smaller one for then. Got my final post op date with the surgeon in May then I get the all clear then, not long to wait then holiday to show off my new body woo hoo 🙂 xxx

    SO ladies I thought I’d share something I’ve been concerned about after vaser recovery on thighs…….I had a big lump on the inside of one of my thighs and was really worried about it. I tried to massage it out thinking its just hardened tissue or swelling but that just made me feel sick when I touched it, it is spongy if pushed and quite pointy. I came into the clinic to get it checked out with Dr Hamlet and its just turned out to be a lymph gland. Phew! This will go down with swelling but I am coming back in next week so he can keep an eye on it.

    But another reason I was really worried was cos last week, I could not get through to the MYA london office for about 3 days straight 🙁 My PC was being rubbish and not responding, and noone would pick up the phone! I ended calling the general 0800 number, nearly in tears cos I was stressing over this lump and didn’t feel cared for, and from then on its been fine and Amelia at the esk has been particularly helpful. Dr Hamlet actually called me himself and gave me his mobile number the same day, to chat whenever I needed. But if you are having trouble getting through, just keep trying – I hear the problem is they have so many people coming through the door and getting procedures that they do not have enough girls to look after the reception desk! Thats why it sounds like its ringing but no1 picks up. So be persistent and leave voicemails if you are struggling to get through to them.

    I am now two and a half weeks post op, the bruising has nearly gone; still swollen; cannot see massive results yet. But fit in my skinnies with garment underneath which is a good sign. Will post up pix. I think Arnica really helps.

    How’s everyone getting on ? xxx

    Menu

    Hey @porkychop glad you got all sorted and it was nothing to worry about. I am the same as you 2 1/2 week post vaser and I can see a difference on my tummy area which is fab but my thighs and butt, theres no difference at all which is really disappointing for me as that was my main area I wanted to see a difference, I know they say the thighs swell more but I thought that I would at least see some kind of change by now but unfortunately nothing and almost all of my bruising has disappeared. I also don’t feel like my compression garment is tight at all around my thighs so wonder if this is hindering my results? I’ve tried on spanx but again they don’t seem tight enough. Feeling a little disheartened about my thigh results 🙁 xxx

    Menu

    Hi @lianne bet you love your new tummy! Don’t get disheartened -I know its hard – I’m the same but as we learnt from @dan it does take a long time with thighs… I just cant wait till they start shrinking every day! The way dr hamlet tells if its swelling or not is to push in and if it is very soft and spongy, there is still swelling . I thought when bruising goes the swelling will too… But it’s not so. I find it hard to tell if they’re still swollen cos my thighs have never been super toned…but we just gta wait. With the compression garment – yes I know what you mean, I actually switched my small spare for a size smaller with mya for free. I now have an extra small on thighs, I have always been a size 10 on legs and it fits. So maybe you could swap your spare if you haven’t used it yet? Or put it through a high wash xx

    Hi

    I had my op yesterday (Tuesday) and it was horrific. 🙁
    The nurse rung me fifteen mins before I set out to say that they had to cancel because some of the medicine that they needed hadn’t come. I was devastated. She kept trying to find some and eventually the clinic manager found some and drove to get it so the op was back. Then I had to rush to get there and they rushed me through a bit because everyone had been waiting so long.
    They gave me the sedation and everything but I can honestly say that I felt everything in that first hour. It was so painful, I Just kept crying and the anaesthetist had to keep coming and wiping my tears away. He kept giving me more stuff but it wasn’t making a difference. I felt the tube hit my ribs at one point.
    The second hour was much better because everything started to kick in and I fell asleep then. The rest of the night was painful too. I can’t sleep and am struggling to breathe a little as the garment is so tight. I didn’t see the results so I really hope this was worth it because right now it’s been horrible 🙁
    Please please please someone tell me that it gets better. I have read all of the posts and everyone seems fairly happy. Think I just had a rough op and that has thrown everything out.
    Everyone at MYA has been really nice though and I don’t really regret it… yet. I guess the two day post op check will help to show me if it was worth it.

    @Lucy it sounds like you don’t sedate very well, sounds awful you poor thing, I can’t relate to that as I remember nothing after the sedation went in and I didn’t wake up until I had been put in my garment and was in the recovery room. Straight after the procedure is painful there’s no getting away from it but it does get better, every day you feel a little less sore and have a little more movement so chin up it does get better 🙂

    What areas did you have the vaser? As you said you felt the tube hit your ribs im assuming you had your ab area? And so therefore you will have to wear the padded vest?? That was by far the worst part for me, I feel like the mitchelin man and because I have a short body it cut under my arms and if I puled it down it dug into my hips but when I visited the nurse she said they are all the same size so she cut the areas that were digging in so it was a little bit more manageable, I am counting down the days until I can stop wearing…. 3 days and counting yay 🙂 I can’t believe i’ve managed to wear it for 4 weeks but I want the best results and I must say i’m cuffed to bits with my tummy the results are fab.

    Hope your pain eases off soon xxx

Im so thankful I slept through mine but I have to say im 2 months post op now and im feeling a bit crap about my results… dont get me wrong theyre better than they were but for having the full two hours and a whole 4 litres removed im a bit gutted about my results… if they looked like they do when im in my garment then i would be chuffed but in all honesty im struggling to see too much difference nowadays.. i have an appt with grant on 13th may im hoping to god he tells me im still swollen and it will get better cos at the minute im a bit disappointed to say the least! Cant believe your worry either @porkychop with that lump you found… how u getting on with the handheld ultrasound at home? I got a replacement but it took like 4 weeks to get to me so I might aswell not have bothered!! not sure its making too much of a difference to be honest… I want to speak to grant at my appt too cos my right hand side looks different to my left (the bit under my bum cheek) its kinda like creased if that makes sense but to the point where you can really notice it especially if im in swimwear… I hope to god its just swelling and it will go but in all honesty i cant wait to see grant ive got loads of questions about my results now and im a bit bummed about them to be honest…

    Morning @Dan nice to have you back 🙂 That’s not good that your not happy with your results, although when I nebbed through your pics I thought the difference was amazing!! I am 5 weeks post op and have finally been able to take off that awful padded vest 🙂 I love the results on my tummy but can’t see a great deal of difference on my thighs or butt so maybe the swelling just takes longer to go down in that area (hopefully). Are you still wearing the garment Dan?? I thought you could take it off after 6 weeks? xxx

    Sorry to hear about your results Dan, you’ll have to let us know what happens.
    My op was particularly bad lo but at least it is only a short time in your life, I’m over it now. But never, ever, ever again.
    I also feel disappointed now. I was really happy at first but I don’t feel as flat now. I’m 2 weeks post op so hoping its just swelling but you never know.
    I think that people think it is a quick fix but it is such a long hard process.
    Also, i bloody hate this vest! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

    hey ladies,

    how is everyone getting on with their results?? I have to say i’m quite disappointed in my results, my tummy looked really good after I took off the garment but when you stop wearing it the results don’t seem as good 🙁 now feeling like it wasnt really worth the money I paid. xx

    Hi ladies – long time no speak! im almost a year post op now and in all honesty im not looking back!! I am a million times better than i was this time last year… if you asked me would i do it again then yes i would, i dont think i could go back to the way i was now. the one thing i would say tho is that when u stop wearing your garment the results dont seem as good, its almost like your garment makes you feel that bit more toned so its a shame that result doesnt stay wen you take them off… other than that im happy – hows everyone else doing? xx
