I’m just looking for some advice ladies .. I’m always working out and so I’m quite anxious about not being able to for atleast 6 weeks after surgery and trying to think of other ways to keep active/my body in shape .. How long would anyone recommend before doing yoga after surgery? ?

Hey Laura, i’m the same as you- i had my op on the 25th april and before that i went to the gym twice a day and loved being super active- i’ve always thought i’ve had a strong pain thresh hold, but nothing prepared me for how much pain i was in post op, for a week solid i was in bed hardly moving! the last thing on your mind is the gym ( which is something i never thought i would ever say as i pretty much live there) im 10 days post op now and DYING to go back but waiting until the 2 week mark, and thats when i will start light incline walks/ bike stuff and introduce lower body weights again depending on my body. Today i felt like i was able to b out and about and was keen to get walking, i only walked to the shops and back- just over a mile in total and its completely wiped me out. Its so hard because post op you are bloated and after a week/ 2 weeks in bed you feel like a slug! ( lol but not funny) lost my definition etc but it is what is. im listening to my body and its nothing a month back at the gym when im better wont sort. at first i hated the boobs- cried so much but now im in love! its worth it in the long run and tbh you will properly go back stronger than before for letting your body completely rest!

bit of an essay- sorry. its such an emotional rollercoaster! but i wouldnt let a few weeks from exercise stop you from having a cracking pair for the rest of your life. thats what i keep telling myself at the moment.

let me know if you have any questions! xx

Hello. I’m so sorry for the late reply! I’ve only just seen this and thanks so much for getting back to me! I suppose all I can do is try and not eat like a pig whilst recovering ? x
