    Hi ladies
So had my BA yesterday and to say I feel horrendous is an understatement. The pain is not that bad but it’s the sickness that I can’t cope with.
Did anybody experience sickness with their BA and when did it subside?

    Crying out for help/advice

@kimberleyyjj hi Kim sorry to hear you’ve been sick 🙁
I was sick too after my op because of the tramadol I was given – I told them I take a bad reaction to cocodamol or strong painkillers but they wanted to try me on tramadol whilst I was in hospital (I was an over night case)

Turns out I was sick quite a few times as a result so they gave me an anti sickness tablet, then later at night an anti sickness injection to help. After that I stopped being sick however I did have to keep on taking the anti sickness tabs for a few days after as I was still feeling nauseous.

I was recommended an over the counter tablet called Cyclizine Hydrochloride, maybe call your nurse just to be safe but if you have someone that can go out and get you this it definitely helped me.

Hope you feel better soon xx

Hi @kimberleyyj ahhhhh goodness I feel for you but honestly it does go, I was sick after surgery all afternoon plus all evening & 3 hour journey home , plus the next morning , all I would say is try to get dirolite sachets down you to replace lost salts / sugar and sip water & dry toast in between, plus rest, it’s likely to be the anaesthetic and usually lasts at least 2 days before it subsides & gets out of your system, but mya did say if it’s longer then that you must call the emergency line . Good luck hope you feel better soon , by day 3 , I was eating fine & honestly the sickness does pass xx

Hi @kimberleyyj honestly if you aren’t in much pain stop your pain killers. When I come round from the op I felt so sick had antisickness in theatre and then again out of theatre didn’t work.

I was in from my op finished at around 12 noon I came home at 6.45pm just felt rotten. I then didn’t feel sick but the next night after taking all my pain meds and antibiotics I was sick I mean constantly one time after the other (never been like that) from 4pm until 11pm. I strained all my boobs my chest was so sore.

The next day I only took my antibiotics making sure I had them before food drinking a full glass of water and waiting a few minutes before I ate (not that I wanted too but had boiled rice and my mam then added it into a frying pain with 2 eggs and mixed in this really settled my tummy).

I stopped all pain killers and felt almost 100% better.

Hope your feeling not as sick now lovely.

    Thanks ladies.
I was sick pretty much the whole entire time after my op, all through the night and all through the journey home. Then pretty much all day yesterday. The strain on my chest was so painful.
I’ve managed to keep some toast down this morning, have stopped taking the pain killers the hospital gave me and taking paracetamol when I need them. Next meal I need to try and take the antibiotic as haven’t kept any of those down yet either.

Hopefully things are starting to get better

    Xx

@kimberleyyj Which antibiotics have you been given? Check on the leaflet if you should have before food or after as I think this made me bad as I was supposed to take them before food and I did after.

Glad you have managed some toast. Honestly I cried the first 4 days but from about 7 days I felt loads better. Try and move around if you can still have plenty of rest but I found moving around helped me to feel more human.

    Steph xx
