So I went for my first consultation completely clueless to how this all worked but I thought with MYA being such a big company that I was in good hands. But I think this worked completely against me as I have felt so clueless the whole time, like they’re too big to care about any individual patients.

My first coordinator asked me a few questions and let me try a few implants without explaining the cc’s properly. She then give me the date 06/09/17 for surgery and told me to sort it with work. I did this the next day and called them only to be told that the date wasn’t actually available and to change it again through work.

I then got my date to meet my surgeon Dr. Traynor who I can not fault, he was fab, straight to the point and give me a lot of information. I then had to go see another coordinator to order my implants, I only wanted to go to DD (which I understand everyone is different and they can’t just go off that) but when I told her that, I just got given more implants and hardly anymore information. Felt like I was being rushed out. Because of this when I got home I text my initial coordinator letting her no my worries and got a reply saying she no longer worked for MYA and I would be assigned someone else.

Day before my surgery (Tuesday) I got a call from the Liverpool office asking can I change tomorrow’s app to the Thursday which I was completely shocked at. I had booked the time off work, arranged transport and had everything ready. After being on the phone for about 15 minutes panicking it turned out it was a mix up with the systems and I could have my surgery the original day.

Finally got to my surgery, the people at first trust Preston were amazing, I couldn’t of asked for a better service and my surgery went super well which I suppose is what is important.

After a few days of getting home my breathing was getting very shallow and I was panicking so I text my nurse and got no reply (still no reply). My appointment to get all dressings removed is tomorrow as it will be a week after the op, my mum has booked the day off work to take me in as not recommended to drive myself and I have just received a call saying tomorrow is to be cancelled and only Thursday is possible (I have no way of getting there Thursday) so after going back and forth with dates the nurse finally agreed to see me Friday to take them off which I’m not happy about as showering and everything with dressings on is very awkward.

Basically i am very happy with my surgery but the service along side it is absolutely shocking and unless you know a lot about sizes etc and know exactly what you’re doing then I would reccomend you go to a company that will concentrate on you instead of brushing you off like you don’t matter

With regards to the sizes etc the PC’s dont hve the qualifications to recommend sizes etc for each different body shape and breast size. This is all down to the surgeon, I told mr traynor what size i wanted the outcome to be and after meassuring me up he told me roughly what cc’s would get me in terms of bra size. The pc’s are mainly for support and getting booked in in my opinion. Afterall the surgeons are the ones that complete the work and have worked on hundreds of women to know what meassurents need what cc, the pc’s dont.
It does seem like you had a stroke of bad luck with the appointments being messed around and stuff and i have read a few posts on here about the lack of service coming from the liverpool clinic x

Go directly to the surgeons is my advice. Cut out the middle man companies and the thousand plus pounds they add on xx

I completely agree. I went with mya because I liked my surgeon and he has done a great job thank goodness, but I wouldn’t recommend the company. Seems like they entice you by making you feel a part of their ‘clique’ and making you feel like you’re part of a special little club or something. I’ve wanted this surgery for 8 years and have been researching about it for that long so I feel very knowledgable about the process. If I’d gone to mya completely unknowledgable then I wouldn’t have a clue still. I feel as if consultations aren’t very detailed and very rushed to make you spend the money. Fortunately I haven’t had the struggles that you have had with appointments being cancelled but I have found it really difficult to get information and answers out of anyone unless you get lucky with who you’re speaking to on the phone. Quite scary to think about the amount of women that would’ve gone and had surgery without the amount of knowledge I had and only what mya gave them. Sorry to hear you had such a hard time xx
