Hiya guys, I am currently researching this procedure and was looking to go ahead in August. My children will be 2.5years and 9months. I’d planned for help for the first week or 2. But is it really unrealistic to be able to lift my 9month old after this time?

Hey Hun. I had my op when my youngest was 11 Months and my eldest was 2.5years. Like you my other half helped for two weeks and did all the lifting. I tried to avoid lifting as much as possible for another couple of weeks but obviously there were times when I had to lift my little one into her cot for naps or into the car etc but at night I’d get my other half to lift her and bring her downstairs in the morning. (the older one didn’t really need help and I taught her how to get into her car seat on her own before my op). I also bought a light weight stroller for my little one so I didn’t have to pick up the really heavy icandy I had out of the boot every time we went anywhere! actually felt fine lifting I was just worried about ripping a stitch or pulling a muscle but I was fine. Just be cautious and careful when you lift them. Xxx

Thankyou for that. My partner works a 3 weeks shift pattern of mornings, nights then afternoons. So after the 2weeks off won’t be much help to me. May have to think about concerning it for next year instead x x

Hi hun I had my op wednesday just gone. I have 3 children 7,3 and 8 months. I physically cannot pick baby up at all. I haven’t the strength. I’ve had to ask my mom to look after him until I can lift more. They do say no lifting children for 6 weeks but that’s just impossible. If u do, just take it easy xx

I had my op when my son was about 19 months, my partner was around to help the first week then on day 6 we went on holiday and I was able to lift my son carefully when I needed to, I just tried getting him up on my knee first. I also managed to push the buggy okay. Just didn’t over do it. The nurses even say it’s unrealistic to not lift your child for so long x

Hoping to time my surgery so it’s on a Friday then bf has 10days off with me. Then may just ask family to help at bathtime 🙂 x. X

Hey Hun I had help for a week then pretty much got on with it myself I had a 19 month old I used to lift him up with my leg or go down to his level then put him on my hip and stand up it’s the standing up and picking them up from the floor that was hard but there was ways round every thing Hun xx

Thankyou 🙂 my eldest should be fine, just have to practice coming downstairs holding my hand. The youngest has been cruising furniture since 6months so hopefully may have an early walker, then I can pick him up hoe you’ve suggested. Thankyou for all the comments guys, looks more possible now 🙂 x x. X
