    Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone who has already been through the surgery could offer me some advice on what to take with me on the surgery day as well as any tips for post-op?
What happens on the surgery day when arriving at the hospital? Any advice would be greatly appreciated x

Hi Leah, I didn’t go with MYA but I can give you any advice you may need! I was an overnight he patient however, I took for the day: post op bra, change of clothes(real comfy something to button or zip up Cos you’ll be achey & sore), headphones, charger, magazines, snacks for after(I took ginger biscuits Cos you have feel sick after being under), slip on shoes, slippers, fluffy socks!
When I arrived at the hospital they took me to the room, told me to get into my gown & sexy socks & paper pants haha! Then a nurse came and asked me some questions(a few did this), my anaesthetist came & went through everything with me & then my surgeon came to draw on me! An hour later another nurse came and walked me to theatre!
Post op: just chill out, relax, don’t do anything you don’t need to! Make sure you have someone with you for the first couple of days Cos you’ll be in pain & Won’t want to be doing a thing! Make sure everything is on a low level so you can reach as you won’t be able to lift your arms(well you won’t want to) & last but not least be patient! I’ve been telling myself this & still will be! It’s a marathon not a sprint!
    Good luck! X

No worries hun! Happy to help with anything post op too! One thing to make sure you’re drinking plenty of water & lots of fruit & protein Post op! Vitamins as well were recommended to me for healing, nerve damage etc, my post op nurse said she can tell the difference between people who do & don’t(healing wise) xx

What side effects have you experienced so far post surgery? It’s the risk of nerve damage I am most concerned about at the minute!xx

Numbness which is very common for a few weeks, feeling will come back with time so I’m not worried, I spilt a bit of water on the floor on day 2 and wiped it up and you could hear squelching which grossed me out but that was just fluid that builds up but that’s gone now haha! Mostly just tenderness & aches for me! Don’t worry too much, everything you experience will be normal xx
