Anaesthetic worry!

Hi everyone
I have my surgeon consultation in 2 weeks time
So excited! Thing that petrifys me the most is going under anaesthetic! I have never been put to sleep before so it’s a massive fear of mine, are there any side effects? What did everyone else think of it? Does anyone feel the same?

I’m so scared of this aswell! I’ve never been put to sleep either the thought of it is freaking me out. I’m getting ready to book my op now and the closer I get to booking it the more I keep thinking about all the risks!

I’ve got my op on the 13th feb and I’m bricking the anaesthetic.. I’ve never been put to sleep before but I did read that a girl said she worried for nothing and it was a simple thing x

It’s normal to be nervous, especially when you don’t know what to expect but honestly the thing what bothered me the most is my needle phobia but the nurses and anesthetist are amazing, it’s a small scratch in your hand then It’s like you’ve had a fab sleep and wake up with boobies 🙂 x

I’m really scared about it too! I’ve never had surgery and also scared about the drains!

The drains don’t hurt Hun, not everyone has them either x

Keep trying to tell myself that all the pros outweigh the risks but the closer I get to booking the more nervous im getting! God knows what I’ll be like when I actually go for my op lol

Operation day is actually great, they really look after you honestly 🙂 don’t worry girls it’s all worth it 🙂 x

Honestly everyone at mya really makes you feel in such safe hands. The anaesthetic really is nothing to worry about. Anesthetists are the most highly trained doctors and you’ll meet your one before your op which made me feel reassured. Make sure you make their job easy for them by following the pre op food and drink guidelines strictly. You literally blink and miss the whole thing. I woke up in not one bit of pain. Not one bit nauseous, they give you anti sickness in your canula, and feeling nothing but comfortably drowsy. The kind of relaxed tired you get as a kid falling asleep in the car. Please don’t let it build up anxiety in you girls it’s literally a total breeze. I felt quite nervous walking into theatre in my gown but just literally close your eyes let them get on with it and within a minute you’ll be waking up with a lovely nurse telling you it all went well and your in recovery. Xxx

Yeah I had my op yesterday and the anaesthetic was the best bit to be honest, you feel so nervous excited and tired that it’s almost a relief when they put you out, I had an amazing sleep – really enjoy the experience because it’s soon all over and then the real test of patience begins xxx

I was terrified of being put to sleep because like you I had never had a GA before, but honestly it was absolutely fine and infact I loved it, I woke up feeling like I’d had the best sleep. I know some people do have some side affects after but i actually felt fine and was ready to eat and drink straight away! I was at Fitzroy and I have to say the Anaesthetist was so lovely, and really made me feel at ease on the day, he had a fab sense of humour! Xx

I’ve just had my BA yesterday and I also have never had general anaesthetic before. This is what concerned me the most. It was absolutely fine. I don’t even remember falling asleep and when they woke me up I wasn’t disorientated or anything. I knew where I was etc. To me it just felt like I’d woken up from a really good sleep. Luckily for me I didn’t have nausea or sickness.

I had my operation on Monday at Fitzroy London. I can honestly say I’m a wimp when it comes to needles or anything that goes in though the skin grosses me out! I had a man called Karl who put me to sleep and he was fantastic. Everyone who was involved in my experience made me feel so.comfortable and secure. One minute I was talking about work the next thing I knew it’s all done 🙂 I had Mr marcellino and he uses drains. They are nothing to be frightened of, little uncomfortable to take out but not painful. Keep your eyes on the prize, I’m 3 days post op and already feeling much better with 350cc mod plus unders.

My anathestic again was great no issues, lovely man and nurse held my hand and before I knew it I was asleep. When I woke I was in no pain at all. I did feel rather dizzy- but this can be normal. I was also sick but that was after I ate. to be honest some do , some don’t,. but the anathestic itself is nothing to worry about.
