    Hey girls,

I know it is a bad habit but I have tried to quit ready for my op next week and its going OK, but has anybody had problems with healing/ scarring after the op if they have started up smoking or even worse have STILL quit but had problems?

I’ve been told its a high chance of having problems but dont know if theyre trying to scare me? Please someone reply ASAP!

Trust me they aren’t trying to scar you my sister ignored this advice and had a really bad infection for 6weeks until she actually quit and it cleared up I also smoked an ecig two weeks before my opp when I got to the hospital I was tested and go sent straight home for two week till I had stopped. I know it’s really hard to quit but what would you preferre a fag or nice boobs 🙂 x

No way really?! They actually test you before you go in? So you can’t have nicotine patches or ecigs or anything? I haven’t smoked for 2 days and my op is next Wednesday will that be ok? As they only told me yesterday in my pre op that i need to quit. Thank you though! xx

To be honest some girls do smoke and get away with it but that’s a risk u have to take they don’t always test its random I was the only one that day to get tested so don’t worry to much if they only told you yesterday it’s not ur fault x

Hi Hun, I am a smoker, had my op 7 days ago. Told them I was a smoker and my consultations etc and told my surgeon. They advised its better to stop but I couldn’t. I cut down to around 5 ish per day before my op. Had one on the morning of the op and smoked ever since. They never asked me anything about smoking at Preston and have just come back from my 1 week check up and she said scars are healing perfect. Guess everyone is different but so far I have been fine 🙂 x

I think it all depends on your body Hun I gave up 1 week before and put patches on then took patches off 2days before!!, then I never touched one for 2 weeks later and I’ve had odd one but need to stop as it’s no good for body:(, fingers crossed all gone well but as I say everyone different. Xx

Hey Hun, apparently you can’t use anything that has nicotine in it!!! You have to come off it all completely, I have quit now although I have literally just had one as 4 days without anything was killing me xx
