Hey everyone, I have my op booked for 18th June, after my consultation I was asked to gain a letter from my doctors to say I was fit for surgery of which my doctor refused and said it was not her responsibility and she was not at liberty to say if I was fit for this particular surgery! After gaining just my medical notes instead of a letter and sending it into MYA they have now asked about my asthma and said I need a letter from the doctors to say that my asthma is stable. Although my inhalers are down on my history as repeat medication, I never use them anymore as not needed and also have my regular asthma checks where everything has been fine. I am panicking now In case my doctor isn’t very fourth coming again, has anyone else has this problem and if so did you find a way around it? Thanks xx

its your personal information, you have a right to ask for a copy of it if you so wish. They cannot refuse you a copy of YOUR OWN personal detqils if you’ve requested it. They belong to you at the end of the day. Because it’s yours. My GP didn’t even need to see me, the receptionist didn’t actually ask my GP, she just said she would have a copy of my medical history ready and waiting behind reception at 2pm on the day I called. They obviously contacted them afterwards for confirmation or clarification and I had no issues once the GP was contacted directly.
Mine also mentioned asthma from 2001…I’ve never had asthma. Doctors these days diagnose you with that every time you go in with a chesty cough. That was on my record too but had no meaning or truth to it. They asked me about it and I said I’ve never had it, but they said I did when I was a child because I had a chest infection and an inhaler helps open the airways. It’s amazing how inaccurate medical history can be x

Asthma check was the way to go, the nurse was so helpful and ensured she did detailed notes for MYA, I have sent them over and everything has now been cleared ☺️ Xx
