Try peppermint tea and charcoal tablets. Also prunes/prune juice. Probiotics can help too, so the likes of actimel/yakult etc x

Aww no, I’ve avoided this so far and am 3 days post op and have had a fee bowel movements!
What medication are you on? I was told to go steady on the coedine as it bungs you up, so I have been staying off that in favour of paracetamol and ibrobrufen, but then if you need the stronger stuff it’s best to take it.
I have have been drinking smoothies as fruit will help soften things too. I read as the person above said, peppermint tea can help too!
Good luck, hope it eases soon!

Yeah I feel your pain the bloat is horrible. Movements are normal now off co codamol but I’m just taking ibuprofen for inflammation. As soon as I eat I expand. I woke up with a flat tummy first time in 8 days and had an omelette and wow 3 months pregnant…….again! (I just look swollen!) xx

Oh my goodness the bloat is sooooo real! No one told me about it before my op and I felt like a total whale. It really got me down, i felt absolutely hideous because I couldn’t fasten my jeans, couldn’t put make up on my greasy skin or do anything with my horrifically greasy hair! I think for me the bloating lasted around 6 weeks, and although I tried plenty of things to try and ease it, I think it just passes in its own time 🙁 hang in there, it will susbside in the end, happy healing xxx

Why bloat? Is it due to the pain killers and anti biotics?

I’ve been trying all sorts and as soon as I eat the bloat comes bouncing back. I find diet tonic water helps after eating too. Still feel like a fatty! My abs have completely disappeared! Sad times! X

@josoap I still have it at 4wpo also! I can guarantee it’s not weight gain beaut it will be the bloat.
By now, because you’ve been off pain meds for so long, it will be the swelling still working it’s way out – it moves down your body and EVENTUALLY will disappear. I have adopted a vegan diet to try and help but it still hasn’t (although it’s not as bad, it’s still quite bad and really upsetting). I think we’re just unlucky and our body composition is different.
As with everything else, it really does differ from person to person. My nurse told me it is sometimes linked to your metabolism, so if you have a slow metabolism, the swelling takes longer to dissipate. I do have a slow metabolism so it makes sense!
    Hang in there xxxx

It didn’t go away until I started a low salt diet and detox water because its water retention mainly so it needs you to cut down on salt because salt retains the water further, i drank 2 liters of water daily but i add squeezed lemon juice to that water to make it more effective and sometimes cut slices of cucumbers and mint and put them in 2 liters of water and leave them overnight and drink that water in the morning with the lemon juice, also lots of boiled peppermint tea helped aloooot
