Hi ladies, so I have 9 sleeps until my boobie day….eeek! I’m a mum of 2….with an independent 3 year old and an 8 month old bubba. I obviously want to take the best care of my new assests….but as a mum of young children, I have to be pretty realistic that I’m not going to be able to spend 6 weeks not lifting heavier than a bag of sugar!! Hubby is off work for 2 weeks so this will give me time to recoup in the early stages without lifting etc but when did you all start lifting your children again (the little ones that is). I don’t want to cause myself any complications but I’ll have to lift baby into cot and into car etc xx

Hi Hun I have 3 children youngest being 18 months I’m nearly 4 weeks post op and I’ve only just. starting to lift my 18 month old but still being careful when I’m lifting him as sometimes I can feel it pulling on my boobs and my boobs ache for a few hours afterwards but even my nurse said it can’t be help and we have to be realistic when it comes to mums and lifting xxx

I’m 6 WPO and still not lifting my 3 year old at all , obviously your 8 month old lighter , it all depends on the individuals recovery. I’ve had a very difficult and emotional recovery so I struggled enormously looking after a 3 year old with special needs and a 5 year old , even just dressing them etc.. I needed lots of help xx

Sorry to hear youve had a tough time Jen. I defo won’t be lifting my 3 year old for as long as necessary but she can obviously manage without help, but my 8 month old is slightly different and as you both have said he’ll be a lot lighter than an 18 month old and defo a 3 year old…lol. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me. I totally agree Stacey, mums have got to do what mums have got to do, I’ve done a lot of research on real self, and the general consensus from the surgeons has been about 2 weeks but it doesn’t stop you worrying does it…we all want to look after the beauties after we’ve paid so much and gone through the ordeal of surgery!! Thank you both again x

It’s awful I didn’t lift for first 3 weeks but I’m still scared now when I’ve got to lift my lil one yet from the research I’ve done it’s mainly first two weeks like you have said I’m sure you will be fine just be extra careful when lifting xxx

I would say just try your best to put the pressure on your back rather than your boobs when lifting by bending your knees to scoop up the baby rather than bending over. That way there’ll be less strain on your breast muscles.
You’re concerns are valid. I have a 3 year old boy and he’s so loving. He loves a ‘picky up’ as he likes to call it and I know he’ll not be happy when I can’t pick him up but he’ll just have to bear with me. He also likes to come bouncing over and throws himself into your arms for big massive cuddles- something else I won’t be able to participate in for a while :(. It is a small price to pay though in the end.
    Good Luck xx

louise honey honestly i feel your pain ! but i am here to tell you it is possible to cope lol!! i mean i dont have two babies but i do have a 13 month old son i am now 3 weeks PO and lifting him and basically doing everything normally, nothing bad has really happened BUT i am being careful and only lifting him when i really really need to, and i would say the first week PLEASE do NOT lift your kids! i know that would be hard especially if you have no help but i honestly URGE you to try and get some or rescheduele your surgery cause it would be a waste of money!! So try and get help for that first week hun i know its sooo hard to… because when i think back, i couldnt lift him at all not then… everythings so so fresh and youre at the highest risk of infection, displacement, EVERYTHING and i would say it WOULD affect your new boobies!! also it would freaking hurt lol. my mum and i arent buddies but even i knew not to risk it so i ended up living with my mum for the first two weeks (could have left after a week and half tbh but just wanted to make sure) and so glad i did, i really needed someone to look after me and my son, let alone me trying to do both! i still stay at hers some nights even now just so im not doing consecutive days of lifting and moving constantly. so yeah we do have to be realistic, but only to an extent. im now at 3 weeks and pretty much back to normal i dont have time to ‘relax’ for any longer than that deffo not 6 weeks lol! i know even now its a risk but i think ill be okay now as long as i take care and rest really well at night 🙂 also when lifting try not to use your whole arms idk if that makes sense, but like try not to move the upper arms so much wish i could describe what i mean but ive found it really helpful in limiting which muscles are straining near my boobs, good luck my love xxxx
