I am 3 weeks post op and at my checkups my nurse has advised me only to give them a quick wash with shower gel and not to have product contact for too long, and I also bought silicone scar gel but was told to wait until I’m 6 weeks post op to start using this.

My problem is that my scars and the skin around it are looking quite dry. Ive been moisturising the rest of my boobs, just avoiding the incision sites, but I was wondering when people were told it’s ok to moisturise those areas? Or is it no product at all until 6 weeks post op?

I have to wear tape on mine for 3 months to stop the scars stretching so they mend as neatly as possible. The tape takes about three weeks to come off each time so only changed it once so far so I can’t put any creams or oils on my scars as I can’t physically get to them!

I was advised by clinic to start using silicon gel from 3 weeks which I have been doing. I guess different clinics and consultants have different protocols.

Thanks for your replies girls, and you’re right about different surgeons suggesting different things, that’s why I was so confused! I’m just going to avoid putting any creams or anything on it as my nurse and patient co-ordinator have suggested but it’s just annoying because I still have some adhesive on my skin from the steri steps and dressings that I know a little bit of oil would remove nicely. Shower gel doesn’t seem to be doing the trick but hopefully it just washes away with time xx
