    Hi girls!

So, this might seem really trivial but in one of the papers I remember reading you can’t wear anything on your face for the op, even moisturiser? Is this true? I know it might sound stupid to some but I don’t have great skin, I can keep it under control most of the time but when I’m stressed (like I will be before the op!) I tend to break out, and not being able to wear a bit of concealer will make me even more nervous and panicky for the op. Plus with it being winter my skin can get a bit tight and uncomfortable I couldn’t imagine going all night and day without putting a bit of moisturiser on?

Sorry if this sounds really stupid especially compared to the fact I’m having surgery it sounds really daft! But it would just be one less thing to worry about and make me feel so much more at ease if I could wear a bit of moisturiser/concealer on the day! I don’t even wear fake tan or fake nails/eyelashes and will happily go without mascara it’s just my skin I’m quite self conscious about.
Anyone who’s already had the op can you help?
    TIA! X

I wore make up on the day. Nothing was said to me to not wear any?
Didn’t have like full face but foundation mascara brows etc.
Don’t know how that would have an effect on the op? Xx

@mae14 thank you so much!! It says it in the patient information guide and I’ve seen a few girls on here mentioning the no makeup thing so I just assumed they’d make us take it off or something? That’s what I thought face has nothing to do with boobs? I couldn’t think why except risk of infection or something. But the patient info guide applies to all cosmetic surgery I think not just boobs so that might be why. You’ve made me feel loads better haha! I’m not bothered about a full face as long as I look half decent just to make me feel a bit better! Xx

But there was no way I was going anywhere without my brows hahahah
Good luck with your op xx

Hi Hun on my op day at Preston first trust my nurse asked me if I was wearing anything and if I was it needed to come off including moisturiser 🙁 it’s only one day so you should be fine xx

@katie262 oh noo 🙁 I’m having my op at pall mall, think I’ll just risk it and wear the bare minimum, I don’t see what difference it would make unless you were having a nose job or something. Then if I have to take it off there I’ll cross that bridge then 🙂 thank you hun xx

I wasn’t allowed make up for mine (although my semi permanent false eyelashes were fine?!!) but didn’t go with MYA. If you’re worried about walking to and around the hospital with no make up before your op just take some wipes with you and wash your face before you go in 🙂 xx

I didn’t wear any make up but I think I had moisturiser on my face if I remember?! Just no moisturiser or deodorant on body, or fake tan if you wear it! And remove all nail varnish on fingers and toes too. Xx

Thank you girls!! I’m not bothered about a full face of slap just some tinted moisturiser/concealer I’ll be happy haha sounds really stupid but I’m probably more self conscious about my skin than I am my boobs! I’m sure I’ll be fine I’ll just wing it on the day and wear a bit and see if they say anything. Xx

@lorna I’m the same as you. I used to have really bad skin, and even now it’s cleared, the thought of not wearing some make up in public, wasn’t something I was comfortable with, regardless if it was an hour or a day! In all my paperwork it does say no make up etc, but I put a small amount on still !
My nurse did ask if I was wearing any on the day, and I said no (think she knew I fibbed) but nothing got said after that.
As long as you do a minimum amount and it’s not deadly obvious then I think you’ll be fine! Good luck xxx

@sophiex26x thank you!! It’s so hard to explain if you don’t/haven’t had bad skin/are used to wearing makeup all the time! I’d happily go without if it was half decent haha! Oh that’s good, I never do full on face anyway just enough to cover what I need so I’ll just go as minimal as possible and hopefully be fine! I’ll risk it haha! Tysm! Xxx

@lorna it is hard to explain to people who are lucky enough / confident enough to show off their skin. But I know completely where your coming from and totally sympathise with you. I still felt bare without doing my lashes or brows, but just a little bit of concealer here and there made me feel better. Good luck for your op and let us know how you get on! If you need any advice etc just let me know 🙂 xxx

@sophiex26x definitely! I understand it should be the last thing on my mind going it for surgery but we all have our insecurities don’t we! Thank you so much! I’m just on my way to my surgeon consult now and my pre op is next Wednesday. Thank you for making me feel better! 🙂 xxx

I’m a nurse myself and the reason is likely to be so they can observe you during surgery. Changes to your skin colour can give them an indication of poor circulation/ blood loss etc. Best to be safe just for the day xx

@mum-2-five ah I never thought of that! Thank you, that makes sense. It’s just blemishes I want to cover up really I don’t want a full face on or anything, I wouldn’t wear makeup at all in general if I didn’t have to haha! But that makes sense I’ll see how I am on the day. Xx

Your best not going with any makeup on last thing you want is to get there and them cancelling ur op when they see you wearing it its down to all the products that are in makeup along with the perfumes in it that why your not allowed to wear deodrant or anything its down to reaction.with the stuff they knock you out with i believe as obviously all stuff in makeup same with hair dye get into your blood stream dont think its worth wearing.especially for ur op.to be moved x

Hi girls, just to say I had a call from my PC tonight saying do not wear any make up no nails no hair extensions etc because they will not operate. Just wanted to state what I had been told would hate to think anyone going in and then get turned away. I’m 2 week before I get my op good luck girls xx

I think it’s more to see the colour of your skin during the op – i wouldn’t wear any. I did my make up when I woke up – i was just bare before x

I had my op at pall mall although not through mya and at my pre op my nurse stressed no make up and in the day my nurse also asked and double checked o didn’t have any make up on, I hadn’t used deodorant or perfume and that my nails were off… she said it’s all so they can observe you during surgery for example colour changes both your skin and nail beds.
I didn’t put one bit of make up on and I looked like shit but they have seen it all anyway. I wouldn’t risk your op being cancelled because they are quite strict on it at pall mall. Plus it’s for your own health and safety anyway so a couple of hours without is more than worth it xx

I had my op a 9 days ago so remember clearly 🙂 I moisturised night before all over body n face so my skin would feel moist n soft, then had shower in the morning before going to hospital n didn’t apply nothing at all on body but did moisturised my face, no make up whatsoever tho. I believe it’s for seeing well your skin n possible changes during op also to prevent any possible infection, bacteria…
I guess caz I didn’t wear any make up n it was obvious ???? I only was asked when I had my shower n if I didn’t apply any deodorant.
Also don’t forget to fast 6 hours before op no food 2 hours no more water neither.
It all went well, operation went in blink of an eye n now enjoying my new boobies ????

I wore some concealer that’s all but had lvl lashes done a few days before and my brows are microbladed so I didn’t feel too bad. I also had all my extensions out and used it as a time to give my hair a break from them. Xx
