Absolutely gutted – have my BA in 2 days (wed) and have developed some kind of chest infection, chesty cough.

I really don’t want to postpone the surgery as all of my annual leave is in place, travel arrangements made and my mum has booked off time too to look after me. Plus I have been counting down for this for months and don’t realistically know when I’d be able to reschedule for.

I’m not sure what the risks are for having your op when you’re not 100%/potentially have an infection.

Did anyone else fall ill soon before their surgery? What did you do? What did your surgeons say?

    All advice appreciated!

Hi lucy I felt poorly before my operation started with a cold but I managed to get rid of it just in time, just stay inside and make sure you drink some honey and lemon and hopefully you will feel better in time! I did tell my PC and she was worried so I don’t think they like doing the operation if your not 100% especially if you have a temperature, fingers crossed you feel better soon!!! Xxx

Thank you Elle. I’m waiting for the anaesthetist to ring me with the verdict :’(

There was a girl in the waiting room with me and she wasn’t on the list as they called her several times and she didn’t pick up. But she had some cold or something and they cancelled her op. she was really vexed but its too much risk to take. They said absolutely NOT.

Thank you everyone for your replies! My op has been postponed to the 20th Feb. Fortunately was able to sort out all my leave etc. And better safe than sorry!!

At least it’s not too long extra to wait!!!
