After some guidance. I’ve booked a consultation in 2 weeks. Been looking at having it done for years but this is closest I’ve ever got to going ahead with anything. I’m worried that they’re not going to look how I want and I’ll have to live with boobs I hate forever. On the other hand I’m sure they’ll look amazing and I’ll be much more confident! So I’m going to see what can be done and hopefully this will make my mind up!

What sort of questions do I need to be asking in the consultation? I have pictures of how I want them to look. will they be able to advise me on what size etc I need based on these? Any help or advice I would really appreciate!!

Hey charmaine, the first consultation u will have at Mya will be with a pc who will discuss the look.ur after and match u with a surgeon they feel suits u best. It maybe helpful to have a look prior to this meeting to find out what surgeons are available from ur local branch. Then look into their work by contacting women on Myaspace or instagram. Most people are happy to share their experiences and document their journey.

Before I met my pc I already knew what surgeon I wanted and the pc suggest the same surgeon (Dr Fiumara) so I knew I’d done myself justice with all my research. I looked at my surgeons private website to see all her previous work and checked her credentials out online. I found out she had done a lot of reconstructive surgery for people as a result of trauma and this really impressed me.

Questions u will need to ask will obviously be about cost and options how to pay for the proceedure. The pc will show u an example of the implants and u can touch them to get an ideas of how they feel.

U can see more than one surgeon so don’t be put off and feel u have to stick to just one. Once the surgeon takes ur measurements and checks ur skin elasticity, lifestyle (ie. Sporty, gym goer, kids, breastfed or planning too) and the look u want, they wil be able to dicuss ur size options. This will all help the surgeon decide what is best plus ur pics too will help them. The amount of breast tissue u have will also be a factor for example if u have enough breast tissue ur more likely given overs, if u have limited tissue ur often given unders because otherwise the skin can ripple and implant can look very unnatural sometimes it can be seen through the skin. Equally if ur a gym goer and do a lot of weights especially upper body, overs are usually suggested because of the strain on ur chest muscles. It can be too tight to place an implant and it can displace them making them look odd and doubled up or move to rather side of of ur chest with a massive gap.

At this point u should try on the sizers and take some pics. Usually helps to wear a close fitting top with decent neckline to get an idea of the volume difference.

Some surgeons give a massive range of sizes and tell u to choose. Some give more limited and should explain why (rippling, over stretching, not matching ur dress size) at this point u should ask what placement (unders, overs, partials) would be best and feel free to ask them why! Plus any pros, cons or warnings that come with the placement. Last but not least ur measurements of ur chest wall will indicate what projection is suitable, mod, mod+, hp, UHP. Once again ask!

The key to getting what u want and the best outcome is communication.
I saw my surgeon three times before my op. To discuss size (I wanted more than she agreed to) , mini uplift (I was shocked I needed one but needed more info) and what post op bra was best (I bought five to show her lol)

By the time my op came which was several months after I booked I was totally ready, prepared and just wanted it done. I knew everything that was happening and felt confident in my decision.

Hope that helps fxx nearly 11 months post op

    Ur welcome hun
I had a look online and came across this set of questions that u may find useful depending upon what exactly u wana find out. I didn’t ask tons of these myself to be honest but everyone is different.

Some women want to know more about the medical/healing/longterm effects others more interested in the look/feel but all equally viable
