Day care operation and going home?

Hi everyone , I just wondered if anyone has gone straight home after surgery even if you lived more than an hour away ? I’m struggling to sort things out at home that will allow me to stay away for the night in a hotel but I know that’s what they ask you to do. Are they flexible with this rule or is it a must ? Could really do with just going straight home . Thanks

I lived 2/3 hours away from where I had my surgery, I went straight home! Just tell them your staying in a nearby hotel

You could go home but God forbid you needed them it’s along way to travel back!

I didn’t know if they quizzed you and if they wanted proof or anything ? I live 2.5 hours away x

I wouldn’t risk you going home loving that far away i lived 2 hours away from Preston and stopped on the hotel near hospital if anything was to go wrong within 24hpirs and your that far away be s long way to travel back if I would even be able to make it back xxx

I live 1 hour 20 minutes away and I went home. I felt it was more important for me to recover at home with home comforts. I did tell a white lie and said I lived 55 minutes away though. Xxxx

I think 2.5 hours is a bit far. I was 1.5 hours away but went home. I was still a bit tachycardic when I was discharged and had told them I was staying at my grandma’s an hour away. Had to give the address too! At the time I kinda wished I’d stayed at the hotel just incase

I’m 2.5hours away and planning on going straight home.. a friend of mine did the same.. I told my pc and she said it was ok x

Hi im 3day po. I came straight home which was 2.5hours. Tbh im glad i came home as i was still pretty out of it, whereas i was a bit more tender the day after. I gathered that if there was an emergency id go to A&E anyway. Xx

I went straight home im 25 mins away but really had a bad day with pain and sickness
I just felt like i was swaying everywhere in the car and was so scared
If you can stay nearby would defo recommend that x

Thanks for all your replies girls ! Think I will head straight home 🙂 need my home comforts . Plus I live right by a hospital and I’m a Nurse myself so any signs of anything I’ll be straight there xx
