    Hi everyone

My surgery is booked for Friday January 26th and looking to book the travel lodge which is near by the hospital the night before.
Then planning on getting my surgery and getting an open ticket for a train home later that day!!
From kings cross to Nottingham station is 1 hour 45 on the train
What are all your experiences? Did you travel home on the same day or would you advise me to book a hotel that night too?
Did you feel well enough to travel home?

Any advice would be great!!!! Thanks in advance xxxx

Hi @vogue2016. I went home the same day but wish I’d booked a hotel for the night. I had a fast heartbeat and felt a bit sick/dizzy. They let me stay a bit longer that I needed to just so I’d feel up to going home. I told them I was only staying an hour away but it was 1.5hrs… Definitely wouldn’t have been up to getting a train home! x

I travelled home from Manchester to Leicester about 2 hours. Luckily I was only in the car as I was really sick after the anaesthetic. Wouldn’t have been up for a train ride personally x

I would say unless you are been taken in a car with someone else driving I’d recommend staying overnight.

    Hi Hun.

I stayed in the ibis the night before (5 min from the hospital) and drove home (1 hour 20) the day off my op and I was fine. But I wasn’t sick or anything x

My partner drove me home, which was about a 2 hour car journey … the last 40 mins really took it out of me and I started feeling quite un well. The last thing I would want to do is get a train home … I’d book a hotel and allow yourself some time to rest xx
