    Hello,
I have my consultant with my surgeon on wednesday and I was planning on paying my deposit for a date at the start of september. I’m starting full time performing arts training on the 22nd – so lets say im gonna have 15-20 days to recover. I’m planning to go to a D/DD from a B now. Am i going to have full mobility back at this stage or ever?! I have heard some stories about not being able to ever join in with physical stuff in the same way and its terrifying me as I don’t want to be restricted but I know this is what I want.
    Thanks x

Hi. I think it will certainly depend on whether you get unders or overs? I had overs which yo recover from quicker but I’m 11 dpo and although I can lift my arms above my head it still pulls and you have to do it slowly and gently with no sudden movements or it still hurts. I can’t lift anything heavy or weight bare. If you had under muscle you’d be in considerably more discomfort x

That’s definitely not enough time. You can’t resume exercise for 6 weeks post op. And even then they say to start as a beginner. I do Thai boxing, I’m 18 days post op and I miss it so much. Although I’m back to my daily routines again I couldn’t imagine thinking of going back training anytime soon. And I know when I do it’s going to be hard. X

I’m a few days away from being 6 weeks and I still have very slight discomfort in my chest muscles when I stretch my arm up etc. I got 280cc unders and have had a really lucky and pain free recovery so I wouldn’t say that’s enough time if I’m honest… 🙁

Hey hun anything less than six weeks isn’t enough time as ur body is still healing and ur boobs wouldn’t have fully dropped and started to fluff. Any physical activity that makes u sweat and gets the heart pumping can interfer with the healing progress.

Ur best bet is to fit the op and recovery time around or just before a specific holiday period that you have allocated off already in advance to shorten the time out period from ur studies for example summer holiday (6 wks) Christmas (2 wks) easter half term (2 wks).

I work in Education in a secondary school so had to fit my op in during a holiday. I quit my job so I didn’t have to rush back and tbh there was no way I could’ve actively done my role. After six weeks
I felt confident in crowded spaces and I could jog about without running out of breath! I felt super unfit not sure if it was adjusting to the extra weight on my chest.

I booked my op last July /Aug and had it in December im glad I planned it for the winter because not being able shower for a month and wearing layers to conceal and protect my swollen boobs. Post op routines vary between surgeons (bras, strapping, breast band, how long to sleep upright, shower vs shallow bath etc)

So discuss ur surgeons regular post op routine and explain to them ur study commitments and general lifestyle / exercise routine before booking anything I reckon fxx

    Hi,
I went ahead and booked the op. I wanted to start my new course with boobs so that it wasnt a massive shock to the others if i got them in christmas or anything – im quite a private person. Just gonna have to take it easy the first few weeks and be careful xx

I would go ahead and have the op then start your course as planned. Say that you have had minor surgery and need a few more weeks recovery before doing too much… and be more an observer. Not sure what level you are doing performing arts training but I did it full time at college and uni and found the first week was very laid back and not much activity. And similar the second week. Xxx

I’ve had to say to a few people I’ve had minor surgery and can’t do any lifting etc… just don’t elaborate and then change the topic. If somebody else I just say oh it’s nothing serious and they tend not to press for more info if you give the vibe its private. Xxx

Listen to what Fran has said she has explained everything really well and that is just how it is. X

@nikki , ah thanks so much for that message, I really needed that and its so reassuring to hear of someone in the same boat who got through it. Im starting drama school at degree level so it will be intense. Yes they said the first week is induction week so i would have had a full 4 weeks before i start any proper training- will have to be careful for the first two.
Does anyone know if its mainly LIFTING as such you have to avoid? What about cardio activites like dancing, running etc?
    Thanks alot ladies xx

Probably not what you want too hear, but as much as you may want to, its best not to do anything more than walking in the first 6 weeks. You will have paid good money for your boobs, and if it was me I wouldn’t forgive myself if I had hindered my recovery by being to active both in terms of recovery / health and also money to fix any problems that may arise from exercising too soon. xx
