Hi girls, my op is in 18 days and I can’t wait! However my excitement is turning into nerves! I’m so worried about everything from the canular to drains to the pain and sickness!

How did you find these things? In all previous surgeries under General anaesthetic my anethetist has been able to put me to sleep with gas and put the canular in afterwards which has been so much easier! My pre op nurse said this is a possibility but I’ve never heard of anyone else having it done this way…

I’m also really worried about drains and that they might hurt or make me sick! I get really panicky when I throw up!

I think I can cope with the pain but I’d really like to hear some honest opinions on it because I feel like I need to be prepared for what I am about to put myself through!

I know it will all be worth it in the end! X

    Hello,
    I’m 2 week post op.
I know how you feel as I’m a drama queen but after the whole procedure I wondered why I got myself so worked up for I don’t know about other girls who’s had breast augmentation but I went through no pain at all! I’ve always had a really bad phobia with needles and in all honestly I didn’t even feel the canular go in, and with the theatre staff making me calm and being really nice distracted me from everything too.
I also had drains and was dreading it when it was time to take them out, I got all worked up at the thought of it all but when the nurse took them out I was surprised she was finished already it’s the smallest tugging feeling with no pain while she does it. I was also worried about my 1wpo as I had stitches that needed to be taken out and my strapping off and I didn’t even feel a thing with them either. I was so shocked with how pain free I was with everything and the only pain I’ve got throughout the whole procedure is a little back ache, so make sure you get a v pillow or pressure pillow to help ease it 🙂 x

Hi Ellie, Thanks for sharing your experience! I hope I am as lucky as you. I tend to be a drama queen too so going to try and keep calm and relaxed throughout!

You make it sound like it’s not as bad as my imagination is making it so hopefully you’re right! Thanks! X

@hayleyrh from one drama queen to another you’ll be fine, deep breath 🙂

Hardly noticed the cannula , think the nurses do so many of them they are really quick & honestly I barely felt a thing … This was my first general anaesthetic so I got nervous going in but I had one minute of internal panic before I was out so not even a chance to say nope I’m outta here, he he he!

Remember some throat sweets! My friend ran out for some & soooo needed

Oh yea the pain … After surgery I thought I was wonder woman cause I hardly had any pain at all … Few days later I realized how good the hospital drugs were! But I took my meds & rested (as much as I could)

There’s some pain but mostly discomfort do don’t worry

I’m currently 3wpo, I was terrified on the day, I was crying before they put me to sleep, shaking and just anxiety out of control! But the worst part of it is the worrying, the whole thing turned out perfect, the pain for me was about 3/10 totally manageable (had unders). I wish I had relaxed more because everything went smoothly and there really was nothing to worry about.
I didn’t have drains but I emailed my surgeon a few weeks before asking if he used them so I knew what to expect xx

Hey hun, I am 9dpo and I wanted honest accounts on the pain etc before my op.
The putting to sleep bit was fine, honestly I was petrified. The nurse who came to get me was absoutely lovely, I started crying and she told me that GA is safer then flying (!!) and she really put me at ease. she held my hand until I was gone.
When you first wake. up it is painful but you also have a lot of medication. I had my op at 10.30am and was in my room by 12. I had drains and I did find it very uncomfortable but I think it depends person to person just take a deep breath and try and relax its over in seconds.
The worst part for me was the feeling so out of it, I didn’t leave until 7pm as I felt too weak BUT the minute I got some fresh air and started walking I felt 10000x better so that would be my bit of advice.
It is honestly fine, yes its painful but. I had unders too which is worse. everyone is different you will be fine the staff are honestly lovely.
