Going out without bra?

So I want to go out next weekend and I’ll be 5 weeks post op it’s a festival so don’t want to be all wrapped up like I usually am with these bras on, will I be okay to go out with out a bra on?? Or does anyone know any bras that are actually wearable with normal clothes??

Hi Hun I’ve just bough a plain post op like t shirt bra from marks and Spencer’s to say just looks like a normal bra and soo soft xxx

I went without a bra two weeks post op but just for a evening,they slightly ached more than usual on the morning but no probs maybe just take a tshirt bra with you.im quite small framed so more than likely just me getting used to the weight of them maybe ????

U can get pretty good non wired nice vras not i got one from matalan when it was too hot for a sports bra x

I personally wouldn’t go out with out a bra on befor the 6 week mark they say 6 weeks for a reason Hun I payed good money for them if you want them to last well they need looking after 6 weeks isn’t very long to go keeping a bra on xxx

Thank you girls I’ll have to look for some not so ugly bras I think I’m still getting used to the weight aswell they still feel heavy without a bra! I’m such a worrier so would rather get a smaller bra than risk anything x

Hi ladies, we agree with @staceymlx . Please stay in your post-op sports bra for the full 6 weeks to promote healing and to prevent any damage to the operated site. It’s worth it in the end! Love MYA x

Defo stay in your post op bra! Especially when you’ve had a few drinks and you start jumping up and down!! x

matalan and M&S do some nice post-surgery bras that are more like normal bras, especially matalan i saw loads of them but did not get till i reach my 4 week mark and can breathe a little better with being out of the super-danger time zone lol (im almost 3 weeks post op atm) as theyre supportive but not as much as the macom etc, so id recommend checking online or popping into matalan to buy one??? i also wouldnt risk it either even at 5 weeks, i know people that still support their boobs past week-6… you cant just remove all support (well you can haha but risk ruining how long they stay looking good) so id say even for festival although its super tempting its just not worth it at all, the 6 weeks calculated for recovery is for a reason and if anything does happen you ruin your chances of getting help for it cause you didnt follow surgeons instructions xxxx

I had my 4 week post op check up with my surgeon Dr Fiumara on the 4th July and she advised that I could wear any bra I liked (including under wired) and could sleep without a bra. I’m now confused @myamoderator am I risking doing myself damage?

@allyferrara i think everyone is stating what the general recovery consensus is, but surgeons sometimes change it up a bit based on their own beliefs or principles etc – i would ALWAYS say follow what your surgeon has recommended, even though it may be different from the general consensus. Not sure what i would do in your position as ive heard so many surgeons say, and through research many say to put off wearing underwires and going braless especially underwires for as long as possible (so like 6W+ even longer if poss) so im not sure i would? i may wear bralettes and normal bras but not sure about that. But like i said i would always go with what your surgeon said… for example mine told me at my 3 week check up i could start sleeping on my sides now FROM TIME TO TIME and tbh i followed that straight away lol i was so happy as im a side-sleeper through and through – but i know many surgeons dont tell you to sleep on your side till the 6 weeks so yeah xxxxx

Hi @allyferrara , we say, always follow your surgeon’s recommendations. Our 6 week rule is for general use but the surgeon will know your body and the speed at which you’re recovering. It really varies but the surgeon will always know best so trust their advice. Love MYA x
