    Hi girls,

I’m due to have my BA on Thursday (27th) however due to previous mental health issues, my surgeon requires a letter of authorisation from my GP to basically say that I’m fine and no further action is required However my GP are point blank refusing and fobbing me off saying it’s the surgeons place to do this.

Has anyone else had these issues as I’m now worried that my surgery will be cancelled/postponed however I am not going to be able to retrieve this letter regardless. Don’t know what else to do 🙁

    Hey
Omg that’s terrible did your surgeon not get in touch with your GP to get any medical history ?
The place I had mine done at contacted my GP to get any relevant information xx

Hey lovely! And they did, we both have been for 6 weeks now and the GP are honestly just refusing to give a personalised letter… The nurse came back to me this morning saying the brief given from my GP isn’t really what they need. Going to go in there tomorrow and pay for my medical records as the GP are also refusing to send them directly to the clinic. Honestly I feel so stressed now, I feel like it’s just going to be cancelled… especially if my medical notes aren’t good enough 🙁 Xx

    Hey
Omg that’s so bad of them to do that to you especially if they know your op is days away 🙈I’m not surprised you feel stressed ide feel exactly the same if I was in your situation
Hopefully once you have paid for your medical records you can get it sorted in time for your op on Thursdays 🤞🙏 xx

    Hello,

Although it is a service you will need to pay for, there isn’t a reason they can’t do this letter.

Ask to speak to the practice manager and if they do not sort it, say you will contact the general medical council and raise your complaint with them xx

    Hiya Shannon,

I’m going in tomorrow morning after 6 long weeks of trying to get this done they still refuse to provide a personalised letter, but instead my medical records & discharge notes. I’m hoping this is enough. I think regardless I will be raising a complaint as they have been nothing but unhelpful in getting this sorted for me. Thank-you for letting me know who I can raise this with, I just hope my medical records are enough for the surgeon 🙁 Xx

Awww so sorry to hear they have cancelled your surgery

Are they refusing to do the surgery until they get the medical records ? Did you not go into your doctors today to pay for them? Xx

I provided my medical records and also finally managed to get the GP to provide a LOA however before getting this to them the nurse texted me to tell me the surgery was cancelled and the surgeon isn’t happy to perform. Now they’re ignoring me, and all I want is my deposit back, not sure where I stand. What a waste of time and money 🙁 Xx

omg that’s absolutely rediculious and so unfair
how cheeky of them after all the messing about you have had to do and the stress they go and cancel and I’m not sure if they’ll give you your deposit back now 🙈 with your surgery only a few days away
i personally think you should get it back because it’s not your fault
I would go with another company and give them all your information
Really sorry to hear this has happened to you
    Xx

    Honestly, I know!
I will be demanding my deposit back as I would still be going ahead with surgery if the surgeon didn’t cancel.
I’ve booked in for a consultation with MYA for Thursday so fingers crossed the experience is more positive!
Will just have to wait a bit longer 🙁 Xx

I will need it back to secure the deposit with MYA too, I should get it back waiting a call back tomorrow from my patient advisor. And I was with Transform, a lot of it was my GP’s fault for not providing the letter in the first place when I had been asking for 6 weeks and they only agreed yesterday however it was too late. I genuinely feel a bit heartbroken about the whole situation as I can’t cancel my work leave either now, it’s really crap. But hopefully tomorrow’s consultation will be more positive! 🙂 Xx
