    Hey lovelies!
Those of you who have had your op (congratulations) and I am just wondering how soon you returned to the gym? I know I’m going to be desperate to get back! Even just for gentle work outs x

I am wondering exactly the same thing! The surgeon recommends 6 weeks but can you go and train legs, not going heavy? xx

I returned a bit limited at 4 weeks and fine at 6 weeks, although staying away from exercises that isolate and strengthen the chest as I had dual plane unders.

Hi I returned after 2 weeks, sounds soon but I only went twice that week and trained lower body, no weights just using body weight. I did that for 2 weeks. I was told at my po appointment that I could, didn’t raise blood pressure and my PT monitored my heart rate, didn’t get all sweaty but need to begin moving, I’m usually 5 days a week and lift heavy. I’m 5wpo, still only lower body but have started really light weights, feels like leg pressing fresh air, but I’m going with it and not rushing. PT has changed my workout routine and she’s monitoring me closely and has even done her own research into what is best for me at each stage. If anything felt wrong I’d stop. I’m up to 3 times a week for the next two weeks. The gym isn’t just about my body image it’s great for my stress levels and mental health, self confidence, so I need to be sensible so I can build up and look after me all round.

I met with my surgeon yesterday and discussed the gym etc…her words were “I haven’t operated on your legs so you are safe to get up and walking as soon as you feel ready”. I spoke about weight training and she said that anything that won’t be pulling on upperbody/chest muscles is fine. Basically can work on anything below the chest!

Hiya! At two weeks I started going back mainly using the bikes and leg, hip abduction type stuff. I’ve slowly introduced some arms each time, but on 0 resistance to start with! At six weeks (now) I’ve started running on the treadmill, but you need a really good supportive bra for that. I’m not going to use chest press at all in future. My other machines for arms, I’m slowly increasing resistance -but I’m still keeping them quite low weights for now. Just be super careful and take it slow if you go back early. My surgeon also said no classes, where I could potentially be jumping around for now xx
