Healthcare workers & MRSA swabs

I’ve been for my pre-op consultation today.. surgery booked for the 10th with mr Kazzazzi! I’m so worried about the MRSA swabs as I work in a hospital and I know a lot of healthcare workers carry MRSA on their skin. Because my ops only 9 days away it would mean putting my op back 🙁 Has this happened to anyone and if so how long did you have to wait for your surgery? Feel like I’m on a rollercoaster as I daren’t get excited for the 10th in case it doesn’t happen xx

Hi I am a nurse and work looking after children all the time with Mrsa and my swab was clear. If you have it the will give you the Octavian wash and nasal cream and the you need 3 clear swabs so would need 3 weeks to get clear at least well that’s how it works at my works

Thanks Paula, that’s reassuring! It’s something I didn’t even think of being a problem to be honest. Just praying it comes back clear because I won’t be able to have it done till Christmas if not with my annual leave at work xx

Hi I’m also a nurse and work I. Hospital, mine came back clear. Don’t worry, I was the same as you, worried about everything and didn’t believe it was going to happen until the day it did x

I do homecare and i tested positive in my nose xx

Came back negative 🙂 roll on Thursday xx
