Yep you guessed it with thanks to my partner ive got a really bad cold and I’m panicking a little bit as I know if you have a temp they tend to postpone your op, anyone got any advise or tips and does anyone know if we are allowed to take any tablets like paracetamol or cold and flu tablets? I’m taking it easy and praying it goes away!! Operation is at Preston on thurs, I’ve got a 2pm admission time tho so at least it’s later…xx

I had terrible hayfever had my op today! I could hardly breathe and really bunged up and puffy eyes. I took two paracetamol first thing and antihistamines I just told my nurse and she said that was fine, I would ring your nurse if you still feel unwell and see what she says, she will probably tell you to take some paracetamols but I would check first to make sure. Good luck for Thursday xxx

Don’t worry I had the same for some reason I was worrying so much that I didn’t wanna a cold and ended up getting one a few days before 🙁
But on the day I was a little sniffly and told the nurse and anaesthetist and said I was as the end of the cold and they listened to my lungs and breathing and made sure I felt well and it all went through ok xx hope you get well very very soon xx

I went in with a bad cold and mucus cough. I had a very slow difficult recovery. It’s not easy to cancel it when you’ve paud upfront and your booked in and banking on that date as childcare arranged etc..so I just proceeded with it. It wasn’t easy at all. Terrible timing. X

Thanks everyone, I had a day of resting yesterday and dosed myself up on paracetamol, felt a lot better today and just have a sore throat, no temp or anything so fingers crossed I’ll be fine, thanks for everyone’s advice, definitely was the worst timing ever especially as I’m never ill, typical I come down with a cold 2 days before of the biggest things I’ve ever done lol xx

Vitamin c 1000mg dissolvable tabs £1 in asda. These are better than any cold off the shelf remedy as they boost your immune system to fight off the cold not just mask the symptoms. I hardly ever get ill and its because of these, the first signs of anything i take it and its gone within days xx
