My surgeon said I could put mine in as soon as I wanted but they’d already closed up 🙁 x

Hi Izzy, how long did you wait to put it back in before they closed? X

Mine closed up in less than a day you might have to get it redone like I did 🙁 and in that case I would advise waiting till your scars have healed a bit just incase there’s an infection xxx

@carlys I tried the day after my op and they’d closed! I can still get an earring in there but nothing bigger. If I’d have put it back in straight away it probably would’ve been okay but obviously when they’re all sore it’s not the first thing you want to be doing haha x

Oh no, I don’t think I could get that done again it was so painful. Hopefully I can get it back in straight away. I only had it done end of July and have my surgery booked for beginning of October x

I decided to not bother even trying to get mine back in but if they’ve closed up, once the initial soreness is gone my nipples were 100% numb for about 2-3 weeks so if you did get them redone you probably wouldn’t feel it/barely at all x

I haven’t had my surgery yet (I’m due to have it in November) but in the past I’ve had to take my piercings out and found they also closed after a day. I could fit a small earring through them but not the bar as I found it to painful but through determination (to not have to get them pierced again) I found a little trick by putting the bar ends in vaseline it lubricated it enough to just slide right back in through the hole with minimal pain!! So i hope this will help you ladies:) xx

Hi, I took my nipple bar out for surgery and haven’t bothered putting it back in but I’m sure you can put a plastic nipple bar in instead of the metal one and then it won’t close up. Double check with the nurse or surgeon xx

    Hi Leah,

I kept my nipple piercings in for my surgery, I just wore plastic ones. I have heard that it can cause indentations but mine have been absolutely fine…no problems at all and I still just have the plastic ones in, I’m 5 weeks 1 day’s post op. Hope this helps!
