So, i had my post op check with the nurse yesterday, and she said the reason its swelled is because they have cut away my natural breast tissue and its still healing. I said what i didnt know that? She said yes they do havent you done your research before you got this done? So i said what so my natural tissue is gone and if i ever had these implants removed then there would be none of my natural boob left? She said yes it would be totally flat!

So, i have gone home and researched and nowhere on google does it say this, i can imagine in breast cancer patients this happens but not in a normal breast enlargement….has anyone else been told this? Or does this nurse not have a clue? X

If they removed your natural tissue then there would be no room for the implants. The implants are inserted: unders go under the muscle and overs over the muscle. The surgeon makes a pocket for the implants to sit. The swelling is part of the healing process and is not because your tissue has been lost. This nurse is wrong.

That nurse is wrong if thst what the case my implants would be able to be seen as I have overs as I had enough breast tissue to cover the implant I complain if it where me I would have very lil trust in that nurse now xxxx

Yes exactly what i thought! I have researched this a lot before i got it done i have watched videos on youtube of the surgeon doing the op and everything, and at no point did he remove tissue. And like you said what would be the point in checking if you have enough tissue to cover the implant if you have overs, and if you dont then you have to have unders. The way she said to me though…havent you done your research?…i think she needs to haha!…how are you supposed to have any faith in the person whos supposed to be making sure you heal ok when they make totally wrong statements like this xx

    Erm, was your nurse high?!
If surgeons removed our breast tissue anyway then no-one would be able to have overs, ever!
They need to create a pocket in which to place your implant and your boobs wouldn’t look the same after having implants removed, but they don’t hack away at your natural breast.
How patronizing to ask if you’ve done your research?! She clearly hasn’t!
Just ignore her honey, you have enough to cope with after a serious op, nevermind scaremongering from someone completely clueless! xxx

Was your nurse high…hahahhah…yes i think so! Its not like its an easy mistake to make either, this is basic stuff that even us girls know, never mind a nurse who works for a plastic surgery company! It did actually make me question myself though the fact that she said it, but im glad you girls have agreed. She also said she doesnt like these forums as people who arent medically qualified give their opinions on things and get it all wrong a lot of the time….well good job for these forums eh otherwise i would of been getting all wrong! It was my Mya nurse in Liverpool xx

Oh dear what a thing for her to say! If that was the case then why would we all end up different sizes with different sized implants … some people have more tissue to begin with, hence they become larger with the same size implant as someone with less tissue! If you google over/under/dual plane on google you’ll see diagrams of where the implants are placed with breast tissue clearly there still… print one off to show her haha 😉 xx

Yes I think you need to report this to someone as she obviously doesn’t know anything about ba and she needs to be told so she doesn’t keep giving others wrong information.
