Was just wondering how people paid for their surgery? Like finance or a loan?

MYA told me I’d most likely not be accepted for their finance, I’ve never been in debt or overdrawn I just have no credit rating as I don’t own any other card except my debit, I’m worried I’ll struggle to find any way to pay it!

They recommended martin Lewis finance and money supermarket but I was wondering if anyone else has any suggestions?? Thanks!

They should just send you the link. They emailed link will take your bank details and tell you if you’ve been approved. They wouldn’t know if you can or not. Unless its an age thing? but i doubt it. x

@hannah thanks Hannah I’ve only been for my first consultation but I’m hoping to meet the surgeon soon! They also said their interest is a lot higher than normal so maybe it’d be best to go with someone else?

I’d just shop around. I’m paying off mine in a year and its a year interest free. The more you can put down initially the better. But shop around. That would be my advice.

@hannah have you gone with MYA finance? I’d ideally like to pay it off interest free!

I paid cash for my op because I wouldn’t be approved for finance apparently mya have gone really strict on who they accept now but I’m certain if you go on Martin Lewis website there is a loans link that you fill out and it tells you if your likely to accepted or not if that all fails do what I did i literally saved 250 pound a week and didn’t spend a penny and if I did i did it on my credit cards and paid them as normal at the end of the month you also could apply for a credit card pay it for 3 months without going over and they normally up your credit limit thus also giving you a credit rating aswell x

I got accepted for MYA finance and I promise you I have the worst credit history in the world.. I’m still paying off debts from 5 years ago and every member of my family has something out in my name.. constantly missing payments and screwing me over.
My credit report says very poor, I haven’t had anything out on contract for years. I texted my pc to send me over the link and I was going to try it in my partners name, she sent 2 over so I thought oh well let me just try it in my name.. and I got accepted straight away.. you have 90 days to pay the £ deposit to the company and once you do they send mya £ straight away.. now I have to pay 250 a month back for 10 months to the company. My surgery is booked for 25th this month and only paid my deposit last month xx such a big weight lifted knowing I only needed to save £ rather then £ as hope this helps xx the finance is defo worth a try xx

@ADRIANNE did you go for the payment plan of pay half when you book your surgery and then 10 mths interest free?? It’s just that my husband was filling the form out and he said that they wanted to take the first half of the money straight away??? So he cancelled the form as we don’t have the funds yet. Xx

I got a loan from Tesco for mine, I’m only 19 and barely have any credit history, I just pay for my phone bill and car insurance, not even sure if they count. I got accepted within principle, so I had to send off bankstatements and a signed photocopy of my driving license and passport and I got accepted xx

@meganlammas I took a loan with NatWest as wasn’t keen on the MYA finance system. My NatWest loan was expected online straight away which was surprising as I haven’t really built up a credit history yet x

As soon as I left the consultation I had a phone call… they searched loads of loan companies and I was refused by them all!!

So was my partner by all except one which was mentally high interest!

Collected as much money as I could myself then went to my bank in the end for the remaining and got a loan accepted.

I did the same as adrianne. Paid half the payment then £250 a month for the next 10 months starting the month after surgery interest free too. I got told 99% of people get accepted for that one x

I was lucky that I was able to pay cash but I did put £200 on my credit card… my mum always says to do that when paying for something big as it’s an extra insurance if you come into any problems! Credit cards are an excellent option as like people have said above, you can get long 0% interest periods. I’m sure there is an eligibility calculator on the Martin Lewis website to tell you if your likely to be accepted before you apply XXx

I got a loan from Tesco bank as that’s what my PC recommended doing as apparently MYA don’t accept finance if you haven’t been in your job for 3 years or more.. within a day of sending a full bank statement back to them the loan was in my bank and I was able to book my surgery in advance and put my deposit down 🙂 xxx

I got an interest free credit card for 25 months from Virgin Money. There’s a website you can go on, possibly Money Supermarket and it tells you how likely you are to be approved for each credit card available without having to apply and it doesn’t harm your credit score. I went with the Virgin one as the website told me I had been pre approved. xx
