Period / Op day

Hi girls,
My op is on Sunday, and of course my luck, I have just come on!! 🙁
Do I need to tell anyone? And I’m guessing it doesn’t affect me having the op?

Hi Sophie! I had read something in the paperwork we signed on booking that being on your period could push your procedure back, but I was at the tale end of my period on the day of my op so the nurse just said to put a pad in my paper knickers as they don’t like you to have a tampon in during surgery. Nobody asked me anything more about it though so I’m guessing it doesn’t really matter but you could as your PC just to be sure? Hope this helps xxx

@sophie I was on too, you just have to make sure that you wear a pad and not a tampon. The nurse asked me before i went to theatre xx

I am 3DPO and I came on- on the morning of my op. Doesn’t change anything. You wear paper pants and they give you a pad to insert into them on arrival once you’ve told them x

Thanks girl. I ended up contacting my PC and she said it was fine as well, doesn’t change anything 🙂 so nervous now xx
