I’m 5ft weighing 6 and a half to 7 stone as I tend to fluctuate around this amount, so my BMI is either just under or just the healthy weight, will I be too small for a BA??
Any girls with similar stats having/had a BA with any advice? Should I try to put weight on before booking my appointment?

My BMI is a fair bit into the unhealthy weight and it’s never been mentioned! X

My BMI was just within healthy range and they said in my first consultation to not lose weight as they wouldn’t perform the surgery.
In my pre op I was weighed and measured to ensure my BMI was healthy.

Olivia I’m surprised that they never mentioned your BMI. Have you had your pre op yet?

The reason they won’t operate on you if you’ve got an unhealthy BMI is because it’s dangerous with the anaesthetic.

My BMI is just in the healthy weight and when I saw my surgeon and the my nurse at pre op my body fat was below 10% so I was advised to gain weight for my operation which I have tried my hardest to do but my body fat isn’t in the normal ranges and my op is on Thursday. I’ve just been advised that I have a high risk of rippling. xxx

Have you had your initial consultation yet? I tried booking online but was declined as my BMI was too low (I’m very tall and slim but healthy) but they called me up, had a quick mention of my weight etc but booked me in for a consultation.

I think the best thing to do is book a consultation and see what they can do for you! Just be prepared that you may not be able to go very big. Good luck! Xx

Hi hun i’m the same stats as you, and just under the normal BMI. I had my op in October and was just advised to eat plenty in preparation for it as my blood pressure was a touch low (and I tend to skip meals when i’m busy). But i’ve been fine so far and had the easiest recovery!

Yeah I struggle to put weight on permanently and tend to fluctuate..
I’m currently saving for my BA so I won’t get them done till mid next year since I don’t think I will be accepted for finance as I’ve only just started a new job, I’ve not had a consultation yet I thought I could leave it closer to the time or will it be better to book straight away? I didn’t realise they can decline you 🙁

I’ve seen a lot of very slim girls on here that have had BAs so I wouldn’t worry too much about getting turned down 🙂 I just got told that I have to have High Profile as I’m so ‘narrow’ which may be the same for you.

As for financing it, you could always look into getting a credit card (some are 0% for a certain amount of time, and some will take you on even if you don’t have much of a credit history) and paying that off, it would work out cheaper than MYAs finance.

Get the finance sorted first, things started moving very fast once I had my initial consultation but it was all so much easier than I expected.

Also another thing to bear in my, if you have a lot of the money for it saved already or will do, you only have to pay the £500 deposit upfront and the rest doesn’t need to be paid until 56 days before the date of your op so you can always have consultations and even book way in advance 🙂
