I was wondering whether Preston Hospital for the surgery allows you to keep certain piercings in as long as you sign a disclaimer to take responsibility for what happens? I have a few piercings that will be perfectly safe to keep in as long as they’re plastic due to the case of defibrillation. Thank you!

I’m planning on taking mine out and putting the retainers in, i have a fair few. The last time i went under there’s one on my ear that i can’t physically take out so that one they put a plaster over. Hopefully do the same again!

I didn’t go with Mya but they let me sign a disclaimer for my piercings x

I wasn’t a MYA patient, but I was allowed to keep any in that couldn’t come out as long as they were near my boobs. They just taped them over (lobes, tragus, nose) xx

Heya, I have to take all mine out (all 13 of them!) I’m planning on putting retainers in the day before then removing the morning of, hoping I’ll be in a good enough shape to get the retainers back in after.

Hey, I had my op today, took out most of my piercings but was unable to remove my dermals and one other so nurse gave me some tape to cover them with and I signed a disclaimer to say I was aware of the risk of burning/blisters. Only ones they were really keen for me to remove were tongue and nipple piercings xx

I also had a dermal piercing, just above my belly button so pretty close to the incisions! I was told that it would be taped but they didn’t bother. I took all others out though x

Hi i had plastic retainers in and on the day of surgery i was told i had to take them all out. I could leave them in my ears but any on my face and my nipple bars had to come out. Even though the nurse at mya told me i could so i payed to get all the retainers, which was a bit annoying on the day but i got my boobs so it was all aorth it in the end x

Thank you guys! I know I’d have to take my nipple piercings out but if they heal up, it’s worth it for actual boobs! :’) I’m hoping they’ll let me keep my lip piercing in but it seems like everyone had different experiences! I hope my nurse is nice to me when it comes to piercings!
