Did anyone take their own plasters off, I’m 1 week po today and they are so itchy and actually making my skin feel really sore, I have my po check tomorrow anyway so guess they’ll take them off but I’m struggling so bad with them this evening I didn’t know if anyone knew whether it’s ok to take them off??
They took mine off at my one week post op appointment and put fresh ones on, went back today for my two week post op and she’s took them off, I didn’t need anymore on this time. Not sure if that’s the norm but that’s my experience, personally I wouldn’t of took mine off myself just incase if infection etc. Xx
Sorry for the late reply, I got dissolvable stitches. The nurse said they are healing really well so there was no need for further dressings to be put on 🙂 finally got the all clear to have a full body shower too – still not allowed a real bath at the moment thou. My plasters weren’t itchy at all, but at your first week checkup I’d just say and they might change something for you. I got mine taken off at one week but they put new ones on just not as tight. I think all the stitches are dissolvable that they use so they won’t need to be taken out it’s just how long your body takes to dissolve them, that’s what my nurse said x
I wasn’t booked in for a two week check, just one week and then 6 weeks.
I’m two weeks two days po now and still have plasters on, she changed them but never mentioned anything about them coming off. Surely they can’t be on that long?! I bought some more from chemist so I reckon will change them myself. I had dissolvable stitches too x
I was the same Claire, I had them changed one week post op she put waterproof ones on.. Had to leave them on for 4 days then got told to remove them myself in the shower (which I did) I ended up passing out! So be careful if you do the same.. I’m not normally squeamish I think I over heated in a hot shower which felt like luxury! X
