Hi ladies, just come out of surgery yesterday (27th) when I woke up I only had a little pain. So happy with the results but it’s causing me a lot more pain now from the incisions, as well as cramps from trying to sleep upright (maybe I’m sat too upright?) someone please tell me this gets easier or maybe ways to make my sleeping more comfortable?

Don’t sleep too upright.. I’m 7 days P.O and I haven’t slept completely upright. As long as you have someone to help you out of bed you’ll be fine, all I can say is take your pain killers. I’ve been in agony too but it does get better! I was taking like 12 painkillers a day for the first 5 days.. just rest, it does get better xx

Oh bless you I promise it gets easier!! I’m nearly 4mpo and it’s literally like I’ve had them forever now. Day 5 I pretty much had a turn around. But it is tough for these first couple of weeks really. Just try to get as comfy as you can. My nurse said I was a little too upright. I could hardly sleep and struggled really badly. You only need to be at 45 degree angle and I was more like 90. I found the corner of the sofa the best place for me. Just do whatever you can to get yourself well rested. I promise it will get better!

I slept at 45 degrees and the pain was horrific! The painkillers from the hospital are rubbish so I called my gp and got 30 co codomol which made a huge difference! Switch your painkillers otherwise I think I would be worse
I’m in pain now sad to say day 9 but only because my stiches are so sore

Hi babe I used ibuprofen, cocodamol and a V pillow on top of 2 normal pillows. V pillow i ordered from amazon £10 or £15. Definitely helps! Im 6dpo i finished the ibuprofen pack yesterday and going to carry on with the last few cocodomal tablets even though im not experiencing major pains at all xxx

    Hi Chloe

I found sleeping on the sofa was best i used 2 pillows on the corner of my sofa and slept high up. You will need someone to help you up as i found my legs were fairly high up and needed my legs moving so I wasn’t pushing with my top half to get up. I used the sofa for months afterwards as i felt more secure and couldn’t sleeping on my sides like this. It takes time but within 7 days you will feel more human xx

    Hi Chloe
Im 7 days today. I found day 2 and 3 the worst but hang in there it does get better. I havnt slept properly sitting up with a V pillow and cushions. I also found placing a pillow under my legs above the knees also helped and stopped me sliding down and helped as my bottom was hurting from sitting on it all the time. Hope that helps xx

    Hi Chloe ,

I was pretty much the same, the first 3 days I would only describe as horrific, I was in tears from the pain, headaches and general unwell feeling. I didn’t think I’d be in so much pain and definitely underestimated surgery. Day 4 I felt much better, decided to go cold turkey on the co-codamol due to headaches/ sicky feeling. Only took paracetamol. Like everyone else I have been sleeping on the sofa with my V neck pillow, I fnd I can get more comfortable.
I timed my painkillers so that one dose was just before bed and found myself waking up 4 hours later for more painkillers then back to sleep again.
I’m 9DPO now and only taking painkillers before bed as I can get a little stiff during the night & still sleeping on the sofa.
It will get easier, keep on top of your painkillers and try to get comfy. X x

Hi Chloe, just sending my love and hope that you’re feeling a bit better! The best advice I can give so far is religiously keep on top of your painkillers like clockwork. Following Eve’s advice I take 2 paracetamol then 2 hours later 2 ibuprofen and so on.

I also try to time this with eating and have ditched the salads and fruit I originally bought for my recovery as they didn’t help line my tummy for the meds I needed to take. Salty crisps and actimel have made me feel so much better.

First night I slept in an armchair sofa, was soo painful and didn’t sleep a wink. Now I’m probably somewhere between 30 degrees and 45 in bed and feeling much better for it xxx
