    Hey everyone.
I know this is something I can speak to my advisor about, but I’m finding reading these forums so much better as everyone has been there done it!

So I just want a few things clear in my head…
How long can you wear one post op bra before changing it?! Do you change it once a day, or change in the morning AND before bed?

How long do you need to wear your post op bra for? 6 weeks day and night non-stop? What about after?

How long do I need to sleep sat up?

Can I lie down at all after the surgery or do I need to stay propped up? (I’m thinking lying on the sofa when I’m recovering!)

How long am I bandaged up for and will I need to change these bandages, or keep the same bandage on until I see the nurse 1 week post op?

Any and as much info is so appreciated.
My surgery is in 2 weeks, I’m having 240cc unders.
    Xx

I wear a different bra to bed than what I wear in the day. But I wear them for 2 days before changing. I only do this as I hate wearing my Macom in the day, so leave it for bed and my M&S one I use day time.

You can’t really lay on the sofa for the first 2 weeks, but I guess it depends what sofa you have? As long as your back is propped up and your not completely flat, you’ll be ok. And definitely no laying on your side! 🙂

You might have strapping, if so this stays on for the week until you see the nurse. If no strapping you normally have plasters again no removing until seeing the nurse 7DPO. Some people just have steri strips as well, so depends on which surgeon you pick. Xx

@hannahlaura thanks hannah! So do you find your Macom uncomfortable? My surgeon said a marks and spencer zip front is fine, but I was thinking of Macom as well but have seen a few negative comments about them on here xxx

Hey Hun I’ll try and answer your questions based on my own experience…currently just over 2weeks post op 🙂
I change my bra once a day – clean one in the morning then sleep, clean one next morning.

You need to wear it 6 weeks 24/7 – then after a non wired bra is recommended until 3 months post op, still advisable to sleep in a sports/support bra of some sort.

You need to sleep sat up for 2 weeks, on your back for 6. This has been the hardest aspect for me as I am a front sleeper. You get used to it somewhat but the back/boob ache is real!

You really are not going to want to lie down after surgery due to the pressure you feel on your chest, it’s bearable just uncomfortable. 45 degrees or above is fine.

Depending on your surgeon you’ll have strapping or just dressings, I had just just dressings, had them off 1 week post op and just have a sports bra and that’s it now.

I have macoms and m&s – personally I’d recommend Macon for straight after surgery as they stretch with your swelling however now my m&s is wayyyyy more comfy and actually feels more supportive.

Oh and you can’t get your dressings wet for a week so no showers….however I had shallow baths and used a nice hot flannel everywhere but under my boobs

    Hope this helps xxx

@cherw255 I wouldn’t say I find it uncomfortable, I did during week 2 tho when I had sensitive nipples the Macom material really annoyed them.

But the M&S one is just so much more comfy, so I like that through out the day. The Macom is thinner so sleeping with it doesn’t feel to bulky xx

Hi girls. Which m&s sports bras did you get? Could you post a link please? Thanks x
