    Hi All,

I have my BA and Uplift booked for 29/09. I’ve had my Pre Op today which has thrown a total curve ball! In as much as I’m 2017 I had heart palpitations and had a ECG at my GP surgery, it turns out my job at the time was too stressful and I was drinking too much caffeine. Quit said job and stopped drinking caffeine, fast forward to pre op and the anesthetist isn’t happy and wants another ECG!

I’m so anxious the op won’t go ahead, anyone else had similar circs?

Just to add, I’m fit and healthy, just had a general anesthetic with no problems.

    HELP!!!

Hi Amanda. Dont worry this happened to me. When I was 17 I had an irregular heart best and ever since I’ve been tachycardic. The day of my surgery they kept monitoring me because my heart rate was 145bpm and they were worried that this was too high. It should be around 80bpm. Otherwise I’m fit and healthy. I had an ecg which showed I had irregular and fast heart beat but they were not overly concerned and I went ahead with surgery. Had no problems with surgery or after just sickness and dizziness because I got up too quickly from the bed. I’m sure they are just being overly cautious like they did with me. Good luck xx

Hi Rose, thank you that’s put my mind at ease a little. Im a really fit and healthy person, do
CrossFit 6 to 7 times at week. Never had any heart problems part from the palpitations in 2017. You know what it’s like, I have worked myself up and allowed myself to get excited about the op and now feel like it’s
    Slowly slipping away!

    When was your Op?

    Hi Amanda,

I was exactly the same as you, constantly thinking of things that would delay the process or make it be cancelled altogether. I was particularly worried about the pre op as my medical summary explained that I had asthma and anxiety as a child and have had to have an ECG so thought that it would be cancelled. My nurses were so lovely and don’t just cross you off a list because of paperwork. They listened to me and my explanations and were more than happy to keep going with the procedure etc as they can comfortably say that I’m a fit and healthy adult.

Thanks girls. I am a really fit and healthy person, I compete at Crossfit and train daily sometimes twice daily.
It’s the anesthetist that has requested the ECG the nurses have said they can no go above clinician if they have requested me see a cardiologist. I never saw a cardiologist in 2017 which is the frustrating thing!

It’s an irregular ECG from 2017 that’s caused the problem here. Hopefully all will be resolved in a couple of weeks.

    Lola I’m having 350CC dual plane x
