Sick note after surgery

I have booked a week of work next Wednesday when I have my surgery and I’m meant to go back the following Wednesday. But I won’t be able to drive and want to have those 3 days off for recovery! Should I get s doctors note or ring in sick, whe I ask for a doctors note what do I say to the doctor? just ask for 1? do I need to make an appointment? thanks xx

I don’t know whether this is just my company but we don’t need a sick note unless we go sick for longer than a week. Not sure if it’s the same everywhere. If it’s just a few days they just let us call in. I suppose it depends how much you want to tell them, If you say you’ve had surgery they may want proof. I’m a week post op today and I can’t even close car doors without getting a twinge so I definitely can’t drive yet x

You can ask Mya to give you a sick note if you want one xxx

I asked my PC and she got me a 2 week authorised sick note off my surgeon xx

You can self certify for the 1st week after that you would need a sicknote x

Yes it is trus that you self certify for the first week off work any time after a week you require a sick note especially if you Get sick pay xx
