Hey hunnies, so I have had a mastopexy and am now d3PO, I messaged my patient co ordinator to ask about a sick note as all I had been asked is if I would need one really early on when I was still looking into surgeons. She has got back to me and said I needed to get it at the hospital ( I hadn’t been told this and I was really dosed up and tired and in pain to even start thinking of loads of questions to ask about this and not one member of staff offered this to me when I was there so I thought it would be something that my clinic would deal with) . Obviously I’m now home and recovering but I need 6 weeks off of work and my sick note is really important so I don’t get the sack. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I’m really worried and frustrated ????

Hi @thompsonhannah. Did they give you a letter to pass to your GP? I’d assume if you went to your surgery and explained then they’d probably give you a sick note xx

No they haven’t given me anything hun, very annoying, I think I’m going to have to go through my own GP but they did say they would provide one for me and be very discreet which is what I wanted xx

@thompsonhannah hope you are recovering well, do you mind me asking why you need 6 wks off work?? I’m thinking of having the same operation and wouldn’t be able to take off 6 wks it would cause me so many problems at work I was hoping to get away with 2 wks off and then being ok x

My jobs are both on my feet, so in front of customers a lot of moving around and lifting and moving things, if you are at a desk job 3 weeks off would be fine babes, I work in a pub so on my feet at all times xox

Hey hun did you manage to get a sick note? As I’m having 2 weeks off work my job is mainly sitting down but sometimes I have to lift heavy things and put stock out on the shelves but I wanted my doctor to put it down to back pain so I don’t have to lift for a while Cos I’m not telling my work the reason I’m off it’s not till September but just wanted to know if you managed to get a sick note from your doctor and what reason they put for you to be off as when I’m back at work I wanna give it to my manager so he doesn’t make me lift heavy things x

My sister had a ba a few years ago and got a sick note from the hospital she had it done and her work didn’t accept it. So you will probably need to get it from your GP but I don’t know whether they would allow 6 weeks off? Most people have around 2 weeks off I think xx

I had my surgery on 3rd June, I’ve only just gone back to work. I asked the nurse at my 1 week post op appointment and she told me I had to get a sick note through my GP! My husband was handed a peice of paper when I was discharged on surgery day and we later realised that was my GP letter! I took it to my GPs surgery and asked for a sick note and they did it for 3 weeks without me seeing anyone! I think your GP is your best option!

I just got mine off of the gp in the end and he has signed me off for the whole 6 weeks as that is what the surgeon wanted and has just made the comment post op so it’s very discreet xxxx
