Hi all, i had my stitches removed 2 days ago, my surgeon said i can shower within 24 hours from having the stitches removed to ensure that the small holes where the stitches were to close. However today is 48 hours after stitches removal and i am still getting blood dots and alot of transparent yellow discharge like plasma coming out and i am too scared to shower, is that normal? Or does it mean my wound hasn’t closed or what? The stitches were removed 15dpo so not too soon or anything

Hey! I have read it’s nothing to worry about spotting and some discharge. If you’re starting to saturate your dressings then you will probably need to talk to your nurse. I had stitches out yesterday and as I e healed over fairly quickly all my scabs came off with the stitches so have been in discomfort. It was sore having them out. I would not worry too much it’s your body repairing itself xx

@jo i think me and you had our operatios on the same day because we’re taking the same steps at the same time. Mine was on the 13th of Dec, that makes me more comfortable knowing there is someone out there taking my exact same steps. Back to the discharge, i had a shower though i couldnt refrain myself further. I love my showers so much and this surgery has deprived me of alot of things. When the doctor removed my stitches he said i can shower from now on no problem but he didn’t know about the slight bleeding and discharge the following days, i gave it 3 days and then just showered although i read somewhere that as long as my wound is discharing something it means it hasnt fully closed and you’re not supposed to expose it to water, but i just did. Hope that’s not a problem though and that discharge and blood is no problem either

I have exactly the same problem, i have dissolvable stitches though and everything was healing fine until 4 weeks post op. Now I have 4 spots that are like this and they seem to be getting worse. 🙁

I still have dressings on as all my scabs got ripped off and I bled with the stitches removal. I think if your without the dressings and you have weeping might want to use an antiseptic wipe to help. I checked myself after my bath this morning and I’ve weeping on my dressings but think it’s just from where the scabs have come off. Still quite sore. Hopefully we start healing now they are out. Mine were left in a bit too long 16 day’s P.O. is a long time to have them in! X

@jo same here had them for 15 days! I am too scared to use the antiseptic swabs, to scared to even touch them, i was too scared to pat them dry after my shower ewww! I was supposed to start my scar gel application but since i am still discharging i am still using the antibiotic ointment until i am completely dry.

Yeah she called me the other day and said to try and get some antibiotics. Since I’ve been keeping them dry they seem to be getting a bit better. Haha lol I’m hoping it’s gone by the time I get home. Some of my nipple has gone now though because 🙁 was so happy with the progress of them. Will try and take a picture later. X

@k.mull my updates, i went to see my plastic surgeon today and he said the boob that had blood coming out was actually from a scab that fell off so I shouldn’t worry about this, however the other boob that had that yellow water like liquid was because a small part didn’t close yet after I removed my stitches and that this happens that you get delayed healings in some spots but that i should cover it again and keep putting antibiotic ointment and go back to the clinic in a week time to see if it closed yet. I already removed all my dreasings now i have to cover that boob again. Also i was gona go back to smoking on Thursday as this marks 3 weeks from the day of the surgery and thats the period i was advised to quit smoking for after surgery but the doctor told me today i will have to postpone smoking for another 10 days because of this healing issue in that boob. I was super excited to have my cigs in a few days but 10 extra days really!!! I think i will jut smoke anyways, I’ve been too good before and after and can’t take it more than this! 4 weeks before and 3 weeks after are more than enough
