I go on the sunbeds regularly and I got advised that I won’t be able to use them for a year… when did everyone start using the sunbeds/tanning products and what do you use when on the sunbed? (Plasters, dressings, strapless bra??)
Sorry just really worrying about a few little things xx

I think you have to stop using sunbeds for 4 weeks before hand not entirely sure about after they do say around a year to keep your incisions out of direct sunlight, this goes for sunbeds also, I haven’t had mine done yet but I would imagine you could just use plasters if you don’t want to wear a bikini/bra as long as they’re covered and the light can’t get to it xx

Yeah I’m thinking about just putting a dressing over it when I’m on the sunbeds. Thank you xx

I wouldn’t advise using one after 6 weeks, Your scars are still healing then , and mine ( at 11 weeks are still reddish) I would assume if you do use them to cover the scars with plasters again if using tan that can deepen the colour of the scars so wear plasters. I would ask the nurse. If she says 6 weeks, then ask would you still need to cover scars? xx

I’m 11 week post op now and went on the Sunbeds for the first time yesterday – I was told by my nurse I could go on after my 6week apt , I was advised to put factor 50 on my scars and to keep my bra on ..

I took my arms out and rolled it down half way so the top of my boobs could tan , I’ll be going on again today and as much as poss until I get my tan back 🙂 xxxxx

Hi honey, I’m an avid sunbed user too!

My nurse told me that I am OK to use sunbeds after my 6 week post op check up (assuming everything is healing well) BUT she advised me to cover my scars for a year if I can, but DEFINITELY for six months, as Kelly has said, the scars will be affected by the UV and won’t fade as well.

I also stopped using them two weeks before my op, and honestly it is definitely worth it to stop them as long as you can before surgery. Although you can’t see it to the naked eye, and even though your skin is used to the sunbeds, it DOES inevitably damage and dry out the delicate skin covering your chest wall, so when your implants are inserted and the skin is stretched, there is a higher chance of stretch marks and discolouration.

My advice would be no sunbeds for at least two weeks before op, and for six weeks after op. Thereafter cover your scars. I know it’s sooo long to go without one – but I promise it is so so worth it to protect the appearance of your body and your new boobs.

    Good luck <3 xxx
