    Hey
Has anyone had surgery turned down at the last minute due to previous medical history even though you have been honest and the doctor is fine for you to go ahead and has stated that? I was told that in their policy that certain things will make them turn you away but I can’t see it on the policy anywhere. A few other girls have been turned down at the last minute for similar reasons relating to previous depression so just wondered how likely it is. I have my surgery booked and have paid the deposit x

    Hiya!

I haven’t had surgery turned down due to depression and I haven’t been on medication for 6 months yet. Got a letter from my gp who stated it was ok for me to have surgery. Nurse checked this in my pre op, if there was any problems they would tell you then xxx

It was 6 months ago I was on medication and I stopped taking them after 4 weeks. I was told that in the policy if there is anything suggesting depression that there is a two year policy on me having surgery. I’ve waited so long for it and by what the nurse said they will just take it away from me like that and usually you don’t get told till the week leading up to it. I’ve booked time off work and childcare and everything else so now I’m panicking because of what they told me yesterday. They still took all the tests etc they needed but said it may well get cancelled 🙁 xx

No you shouldn’t get turned away. You have to continuously be on or off certain medications for 6 months straight and that’s all xxx

Hey hun! Im so sorry to hear that! I have borderline personality disorder and PTSD, they were very thorough with me and I needed letters from my GP and mental health services to proove Im fit for surgery, i guess this is to cover themselves though. My surgery is still going ahead. I dont know ur circumstances though, thats really upsetting… 🙁 ××

I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’m perfectly fine now it was just a mishap I had back then. The nurse was really lovely. I just hope it doesn’t affect me. Yeah I haven’t had no tablets since end of October but reading through some posts lots of girls have been turned away the week of surgery for similar reasons. It just keeps playing on my mind, horrible to think you build your hopes up then boom they take it away especially when I’ve waited 5 years to finally go ahead with surgery. She didn’t ask me for any letters she just said they will see what GP says, I did ring him and he said he has no concerns and he is happy if I am. When is your surgery @sophie x

@sophie No not exactly but to a point they said that it probably won’t go ahead I just have to wait to see what the GP gives them but in the policy I may have to wait up to two years because of my mental health state over one thing last year. 🙁

I’ve read quite a few cases about this now and it’s really upsetting. I was turned down after I paid IN FULL last year. I had the GP letter stating that I was mentally fine and fit for the surgery, but they still refused to operate and wouldn’t refund me either. They told me to wait a year. Fast forward to now when I’m fine for the surgery, they’re insisting on another letter from a GP saying exactly the same thing as the letter I already gave them last year. They said they haven’t received an answer from my new GP (I’ve moved house since last year) – well they haven’t even bothered to address the letter to the correct GP even though I gave them the updated info weeks ago! Their administration system seems to be such a mess and I honestly think it’s ridiculous that they have all these policies about ‘mental health’ but they just aren’t looking out for their patients at all. It seems like they just want to hold on to your money and then expect you to disappear even though they cancelled the op for their reasons. Really upset about this whole situation – if I had known, would NEVER have gone with MYA

Y can’t u have your money back? Id get advise from CAB on this and go else where, I have bipolar/anxiety im on meds n so far no probs, had pre op today they said they are happy for me to continue meds, they have told my gp about my planned surgery but not asked anything only me, asked if I wanted to se a psychiatrist consultant first which I declined and in writing my surgeon has written he had no concerns and was happy to carry out op…. Im beginning to think yo see an awful lot of ppl with MYA all my consultations have been with the surgeon who is carrying out my op, maybe that’s to save money myas end…. I paid a £200 consultstion fee but that covers all appointments before and after my op with my surgeon and Breast care nurse at the same time xx

Also I get a full refund even if I change my mind that day (excluding the consultation fee) they don’t keep any of it because thy don’t want the reason your going throug with it to be bale cause you will loose x amount of money xx

    Hey girls,

My surgery is booked for the 3rd August at the London clinic & it seems that it might get cancelled due to a dispute over a GP letter. I was really honest with Mya from day one & told them I suffered with post natal depression in the past and that I was on medication. However I stopped taking my medication in February and as there was a death in my family I was scared of relapsing so asked my GP for more in April however I never took them. Now it’s looking like they’re going to push it back a few months. This is really upsetting as something I’ve waited for so long then being snatched away from me is obviously going to make me feel quite down. I just wish Mya were more understanding.

This is worrying me as I’m on medication but only for around 4 months. I’ve been told it’ll be fine as long as my GP says I’m mentally stable (only have mild depression, well it’s actually PMDD). My GP have sent letter today. Hoping it doesn’t get cancelled as I’m a teacher and having it done in the 5 weeks I have off!!! Xxx

Apparently you have to be 6months on or off the medication. I haven’t heard anything back yet, I called up today & they said the nurse is speaking with the surgeon & will get back to me so fingers crossed everything goes well. Try not to stress about it too much, take your mind off of it that really helped me. I still don’t know if I’ll get to have my op but we can’t allow ourselves to get stressed out too much by it. I’d hope that as long as our GP’s say it’s okay that it will be x

Hey girls I got my op in the end but I had to pay for a psychological assessment which was £200 even though my gp said I was fine to have it. They may well ask you to have a psychological assessment to fingers crossed they don’t cancel on you because I know how it feels not knowing. Let me know how you get on x

@cillaparry They cancelled mine. They said they’d call me back to book a different date but I haven’t heard anything yet. I wish they just offered me the test, I would’ve taken it.
