So ladies here is my dilemma…I work 2 part time jobs, 1st kitchen assistant (iv mangaged to get 10 days off) and 2nd a conviemience store (I’m yet to get time off). Farley new at the 2nd job iv been there 4.5monthd I don’t feel comfortable telling them the truth as I don’t know the people that well so was thinking of saying iv got an operation nothing serious but will need time off to recover then return with light duties for a while. But what happens if she says the following
What operation? What story can I say?
I will need to provide a hospital letter?
    Dr. Note?
    Etc

Iv already had 1 1/2 weeks holiday so will I be entitled to more?
And can they sack me for having time off?

I really want to enjoy this experience but this is playing on my mind forgot to say I’m booked in for 10weeks time.

Hey Rachel, I’m having the same issue at my job! I’m 19 & work in a restaurant and have done for 3 years. I’m a manager so even more scared to tell them about my surgery. I’m saying I have planned surgery & need 2 weeks off then light duties for a while after. I not telling them what for because I don’t want it to get round, nor is it anything to do with them really. It depends on the contract you’re on weather you’re entitled to holidays but I’m 100% sure the store will let you. They shouldn’t sack you & if they do I’m sure there’s workers entitlement rights somewhere along the lines. I was told I’ll need 2 weeks off fully & then no heavy lifting for my Boob job, I’d book more than 10 days off, you might feel rubbish still & working in a kitchen you’ll have to be so careful that you don’t pull or damage anything including internal stitches. I hope you get this sorted & don’t panic, this won’t matter when you wake up with gorge new boobs! Any questions message me xxx

Option one tell them you having something removed in some way shape and form (doesn’t have to be something serious just something removed) I personally fell down the stairs and broke my ribs ???? no one sees your ribs and you cannot lift heavy things, carnt sleep on your back ect it fits in with all the things a BA does 🙂 xxx

I don’t think you legally have to tell people what type of operation you’re having. I think you can just you need time off for something quite personal. I would do some research and see what websites have to say because I don’t think you have to tell them specifically. X
