    Hi girls,
I am on the pill Yasmin and I have been told that you have to go off the pill for surgery. Has anyone else been told this? And how long for? Thanks x

Same here I’ve been on the pill since I was 16 I’m now 36 and it feels weird coming off and you have to stop a month before and 2 to 4 weeks after surgery. This is because of the links with deep vain thrombosis. Better safe than sorry xx

I was told by nurse at gp if I was on the pill then I would have to stop but as I’m on the deppo I can still carry on with it and surgeon was fine with that also

Thanks for the replies girls. Can I ask what the deppo is please?
I got the coil fitted a couple of weeks ago but still have to take my pill for a month. I was wondering whether to have the coil removed as I’m not loving it but if I have to come off the pill then I might stick with it! Xx

The deppo is an injection form of contraception you have in bum cheek every 12-13 weeks
