    Hi,

Did anyone else opt not to go for the Macom bra?

I’m 50/50 about it, part of me is saying why spend all the money and buy a cheaper bra, the other part is like hoooow much for 2 bras!

    Opinions welcome

Hi Amanda, in my experience now 11 days post op I completely regret spending nearly £100 on those Macom bras! I have sensitive skin and the fabric they have is incredibly itchy and sore on the skin, even people who don’t have sensitive skin have complained about it. My nurse also said she can see they’ve been quite damaging to my skin after surgery.
I’ve ordered some from M&S to come tomorrow which a lot of people have recommended and are cheaper too, I’ll let you know how those go!

I had two macom bras. I’m 8 weeks post OP and I’m still wearing mine. They are really good for keeping your breasts in place during the healing process especially at night when you can return to sleeping normal. I think if your spending all that money on having your boobs done then dont ruin it by getting the cheaper bras that may not offer as much support. Especially during your first few weeks. Xx

I’ve ordered some which were the £20 option, aw I bet. I did make it work with two macom ones, one in the wash and one to wear. I change mine every two days and it works out perfectly as they’ve had the time to dry etc. I get that the macom ones are recommended and are seen to be really supportive however the nurses I had recommended the M&S ones too which aren’t as harsh on your skin. I only bought the macom as I thought expensive meant better quality lol which turns out wasn’t the case for me! 🙈 If you don’t have sensitive skin you might like the macom but there are cheaper and still decent ones out there! Some of the girls I know bought theirs from asda lol xx

Thanks @Rachel I have been looking online and found almost everywhere sells them now which is great but almost a little spoilt for choice.

I think along the same lines, that as they are expensive they would be better. I don’t have sensitive skin so should be ok…… who knows lol

Does anyone have a link for the M&S bras you’ve purchased? I’ve the macom but honestly it’s got my skin so sore. Thanks x

Hey girls, im 4mpo now so have legit all the diff post op bras you can imagine.

The macom ones post op are the best for the first couple of weeks because they work wonders for compression to stop the swelling compared to the rest but they arent great for sensitive skin. I found sliding cotton pads or bikini padding into the bra helped stop rubbing. Also, hook your bottom two hook and eye fastenings on the looser set for comfort.

From week two when i started feeling better i tried a few different ones.

Asda – comfy but not that supportive, works for a few hours if you need a break, like £20 for a two pack
Sainsburys (zip up one) – sooo comfy, but better for further on, i live in these as a bedtime bra now
MS – the flexifit ones are really good, better material for sensitive skin, probably your second best option, just for the lack of compression

Also, the Yianna bra off amazon is a godsend when you want to go out and about but arent 6 weeks yet, compression bras arent hidden easy. This one is lower cut, sort of a compression material, think its 2/3 hook and eye sets too.

    Hope this helps xxx

    I bought a Macom… they’re not all that.

The place I got my boobs done used to use macom after surgery and stopped… they gave me a black one and they had got it from Amazon & I honestly prefer it, I feel like I get more support with it & it was only like £17! I’ll try post a link xx

Thanks @Melissa the Amazon ones look like they can be hidden under clothing easier than the Macom ones.

I brought a sports compression bra from MyProtein for £6 yesterday that zips up at the front ! Happy with that
