Hey ladies, did any of you travel for your op? I live near Glasgow but I’m thinking of travelling to a MYA clinic in England. When do you need to be seen post op? Would it just be a pain to travel back and forth?

Or can anyone recommend somewhere in Glasgow/Edinburgh?

I would highly recommend you stick to your closest available clinic and not travel all that way to London. Travel increases risks let alone be a pain to travel back for all the appointments with your nurse. I think there is about 6 post op appointments and the first appointment is with your nurse a week after the op. I have yet to do those yet – my surgery is in 17 days.
I live on the outskirts of London in Harlow, Essex and have decided to be staying in the closest hotel to the hospital for the day before and night after the operation. I was directly asked at my pre-op appointment if I would be travelling more than 70 miles because of the risks that come with travel.
It’s something to discuss with your nurse/surgeon but for me I wanted to minimise those risks as much as possible and I HATE car journeys so I won’t travel home until at least 2pm the day after surgery.

Ok, my brain is fuzzy and I just woke up and realised you mentioned nothing about London. You tend to become very self and boob obsessed before op and so I apologise!

So in revision: Try to stick as close as you can to home, minimise travelling as much as you can and remember the only thing that truly matters is your surgeon and the implant you choose x

Thank you! I was thinking of travelling to MYA Newcastle, but the 3 hour car journey there for every app would probably be a nightmare. Time to research surgeons closer to home..
