Hi girls why do we bloat after the op and is it really noticeable? Does it hurt or just not look great I plan on living in my pjs having a rest for the first week which as a Mum will be heaven! I was just wondering what it’s all about that’s all…

Hey Jade, I think it’s a side effect from the anaesthetic, and also you’ll be constipated after the op (due to anaesthetic, co-codemol etc) so that doesn’t help the bloating either. Shouldn’t hurt but might feel a bit uncomfortable.
Seems like everyone bloats A LOT so be prepared to have a belly for a while, some girls said it completely vanished after a week and others it took a bit longer but it depends on the person and it’ll disappear soon enough. I’m definitely dreading the bloat but it’ll be over before we know it haha.

I had my op on wed and haven’t bloated at all but I haven’t needed to take the pain killers they gave me so that might be why x

I had it for at least 2 weeks and i wasn’t even constipated because i took laxatives and the bloat didn’t go away until i started dieting/detoxing i went on a law salt diet because the bloat is water retention so you need to cut down on salt, i also drank 2 liters of water a day with lemon juice squeezed on the water, sometimes i would add slices of cucumber and mint to that lemon water overnight and drink it the next day, and i had 2 cups of boiled peppermint. Also try to go for walks if you can, i was going for walks around the house for a 5 min walk and up the stairs every hour, just try moving around as much as you can and you’ll be fine xx

I’m the same as Toni, I barely took any of the coedine they prescribed and just had paracetamol and ibrobrufen and I have very minimal bloating. I think I had bowel movements the day after surgery and regularly after.
I also ate relatively healthy after with smoothies and protein yoghurt so maybe they helped too.

I personally dont know hun but i always see people mentioning cutting out salt and drinking more water.. which is now known as the conplete opposite, less salt and more wter will in fact cause water retention.. just like butter was know as the devil now know as a healthly fat.
