Why can't we use sun beds before the op? Started by: Hayley Snowdon

    Hi girls,

Feel like I’m forever on here ATM, but know on the video thug on the mya app it says not to use the sun beds up to seven days before, why is this? I understand afterwards because of the scars. But I was hoping to go on just to keep my tan a little longer especially as I won’t be able to go in the sun until my scars are fully healed.

Any advice? Should I stay clear? I’m not an avid user just go now and again really xxx

    Hi Hayley,

I really, really wouldn’t risk going on the sunbeds for at LEAST a week pre-op (two if you can).
The reason is because (even if your skin is very used to the beds and you use moisturizer regularly) the chances of stretch marks and skin discoloration is greatly increased due to the damage and dryness of the skin after exposed to UV. The recommendation is there to ensure your skin is as supple as possible pre-op to make sure it can stretch sufficiently for your implant.

It won’t happen to everyone, as everyone’s skin is different, but you’ll be really upset if you could have avoided complications just by staying off the beds.

I am an avid sunbed user and was dreading the long stretch without them, but to be honest it’s the best time of year to relax your tan a little and I haven’t really noticed with everything else going on(!). So I would strongly advise you to take the advice :).

    Good luck beautiful xxx
