So last week I came down with a cold, i was swabbed for covid on friday, thankfully it came back negative but now I can’t stop coughing. then I developed sudden, severe abdo pain Saturday night so I went to A&E. They couldnt find the cause but said the infection markers in my blood were quite high. I’ve got my 2nd consultation and pre-OP this friday and I’m worried that if I’m not completely well they’ll cancel the surgery (even if the surgery isn’t until the 6th of october). I told my PC about this and the only thing she said was to make sure I got a an MRSA swab as I’ve been in hospital (I told her previously, that i am a nurse so will need the MRSA swab). I have a really bad feeling it won’t go ahead, especially due to the current pandemic. Just really hoping for some reassurance. Anyone else been in a similar situation, or have some advice please?

If you’ve been tested for covid then surely it’s fine? You probably just have a cold which will go before October 6th? I wouldn’t have even mentioned anything and if you’re not feeling great the day surgery then they will reschedule you. Try not to worry xx

I felt like I had to say something, especially with going to A&E because those records go straight to the GP. In the pre op video it says if you’re not completely honest with them then they could cancel your op and keep the money 😱. But yeah agree that the worst which could happen is being rescheduled. Xx

Pretty sure as you had a negative swab you’ll be able to attend the pre op and as long as you are well on the day if the op they won’t cancel you. Also they are going to retest you before the op anyway right? No need to stress!
