What is stomach liposuction?
Stomach liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that breaks down stubborn fat cells in the abdomen area revealing a more toned look.
As it's classed as a body contouring procedure, it should not be confused as a weight loss solution and doesn't help with loose skin. However, if you do have loose skin you also want to get rid of, stomach liposuction can be combined with a tummy tuck, for the ultimate confidence boost.
Depending on the patient and their physical requirements, surgeons can also tighten the abdominal muscles to further contour the stomach area.
Ideal patients must be a healthy weight, have good skin elasticity and struggle to lose weight using traditional methods.
There are a number of stomach liposuction techniques available (including microaire and laser-assisted liposuction), but Vaser and traditional liposuction is best suited to the stomach area.
Benefits of stomach liposuction
Liposuction anywhere on the body has the power to motivate patients to pursue a healthier lifestyle. While stomach lipo can greatly increase self-esteem it also:
Creates a more in-proportion, contoured abdomen
Prevents excess sweating and chaffing
Increases choice in clothing
Combined, stomach liposuction can give patients a new lease of life, allowing them to take on the day with confidence.
How much is stomach liposuction?
Like any cosmetic procedure, the cost is dependent on the patient's individual requirements, and in this case, how many areas need treating.
The total abdominal liposuction cost includes necessary aftercare advice and the support of our experienced team.
During your surgeon consultation, a fixed price will be given based on the look you want to achieve.
Cosmetic surgery procedure overview: Abdomen lipo
Fat removal procedures are carried out under general or local anaesthetic and take between 30 minutes and 3 hours - depending on the patient and if any other procedures are being performed at the same time.
If traditional liposuction is used, a small incision will be made in the abdomen, before using a suction probe to break up the layers of fat cells. A suction pump is then used to remove excess fat.
A liposuction procedure can be combined with a tummy tuck to remove any excess skin in the stomach area - this is usually done during the same session.
Stomach liposuction recovery process
Stomach liposuction recovery takes around 6 weeks.
During this time, you'll be advised to take at least one week off work (depending on your job type) and relax as much as you can to help aid recovery.
To reduce swelling and the likelihood of blood clots developing, gentle movements like walking are encouraged, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 4 weeks.
Compression garments are needed after liposuction surgery, to aid healing and prevent excess swelling. These are provided by us (included in the total cost) and must be worn 24/7 for a minimum of 4-6 weeks.
Bruising, discomfort and swelling are all common signs of liposuction healing and are nothing to be concerned about. However, if the bruises don't seem to be fading and the discomfort turns into pain, get in touch with your local MYA clinic for further guidance.
For a lasting look, you should practice a healthy diet and exercise routine. But don't think you have to be restricted by boring diets and workouts, find something you enjoy and add it to your usual routine.
It's important to remember that healing looks different for everyone and depends on the skin elasticity and body shape of the patient.
