Blepharoplasty for men - commonly referred to as male eye bag removal or male double eyelid surgery - is a procedure in which the excess skin and fat surrounding the upper and lower eyelids are removed so that the eyes do not appear drooped or hooded.

Male blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure that removes excess skin and fat around the eyes.
Many people, as they get older, struggle with their vision because of excess skin around the eyes. Male upper blepharoplasty is performed not only to improve the look of hooded lids but can also be used to remove any skin causing vision impairments.
A male lower blepharoplasty can also be performed in combination with male upper blepharoplasty or as a single procedure to reduce sagging under the eyes.
It’s often undergone by older men who feel they look tired and aged due to their hooded eyelids. However, it can be performed on anyone over the age of 18 if they have low self-esteem or vision problems due to their upper or lower lids and want to achieve a more ‘awake’ look.
Having these surgeries can create a much brighter, more youthful appearance around the eyes, resulting in higher confidence.
If you suffer from glaucoma or dry eyes, you must consult an eye specialist or ophthalmologist, before considering the procedure.
With MYA, a male blepharoplasty costs upwards of £4,445.
With any cosmetic surgery procedure, the cost is subject to change depending on the needs and the required look of the patient.
You will be given a guide price during your e-Consult and a fixed cost at the consultation with one of our MYA surgeons after a full medical assessment.
Male eye bag removal is performed under general anaesthetic and takes around one hour to complete.
If you choose male lower blepharoplasty, an incision is made under the lower lashes or inside the eyelid, where excess tissue is removed. With male upper blepharoplasty, an incision is made along the natural crease of the eyelid where surplus tissue is then taken away.
It’s important to remember that there is no guarantee of specific outcomes so individual results and experiences can vary from person to person.
Following male double eyelid surgery, you will be advised to take at least one week off work to recover properly. Depending on your job, your MYA nurse may advise you to take longer, especially if it involves manual labour and heavy lifting.
4 to 5 days after your surgery, you will be scheduled in for a post-op appointment with a MYA nurse. Here, we’ll check your wounds and see if you’re healing correctly before being discharged.
The majority of our patients return to work between 7 and 14 days after surgery, once the bruising and swelling have reduced.
For at least 6 weeks following male blepharoplasty, you must avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise to avoid inflammation, swelling or bleeding.
After this period, it’s recommended you take things slowly and get back into your routine at your own pace. If you're a gym goer, start off slow and ease yourself back into weight lifting and cardio rather than diving in head first with the plan you did pre-op.
