We Use Mentor Implants

At MYA we are committed to providing you with the highest quality breast implants available.

That’s why we use Mentor implants, part of the Johnson & Johnson family and one of the most trusted names in the world of breast implants. With over 40 years of experience and a 98% patient satisfaction rate, they’ve built a reputation that speaks for itself.

So what does that actually mean for you?

Mentor breast implants are designed using a medical-grade cohesive silicone gel that feels soft, natural, and beautifully balanced. The gel moves in a way that mimics natural breast tissue, while still holding its shape, so you get that lovely combination of softness and structure.

Understanding Breast Implant Size

Implant size is measured in cubic centimetres (cc), not bra cup sizes. You’ll usually see options ranging from around 150cc up to 800cc or more. And just to keep things simple, cc is the same as grams. So, for example, a 350cc implant weighs 350g.

One of the most important things to know is that cup sizes can’t be guaranteed with breast implants. Different lingerie brands measure slightly differently, and everyone’s body is completely unique. That means the same implant size can look very different on two people depending on things like body shape, shoulder width, and how much natural breast tissue they already have.

For example, someone with broader shoulders or a fuller frame might need larger or wider silicone breast implants to achieve a similar ‘D cup’ look compared to someone with a smaller, more petite frame.

At your surgical consultation with MYA, your surgeon will be right there with you to help you explore your options. You’ll get to try on different types of breast implants using sizers, which are designed to give you a real feel for how different sizes might look and balance with your body. It’s all about helping you feel confident and comfortable as you picture your potential results with no pressure, just guidance and support every step of the way.

Understanding Implant Shape

There are two main types of breast implant shapes:

Round Implants

Round implants can provide increased upper breast volume and projection. They’re often chosen by patients seeking a more defined, lifted breast shape.

Anatomical (teardrop) implants

Teardrop (anatomical) implants: Mimic the natural slope of the breast, with more volume at the bottom and a gentle taper towards the top. They’re ideal for a softer, more natural look.

Understanding Implant Profiles

When we say implant profile, we’re talking about how far the implant projects forward from your chest.

Low profile

Offers a wider base with gentle projection – often suitable for broader chests and a more subtle projection.

Moderate profile

Offers a wider base with gentle projection – often suitable for broader chests and a more subtle projection.

High/Ultra high profile

Gives greater forward projection and fullness, suited to those wanting a more prominent appearance.

Understand Implant Positioning

When it comes to choosing your implants, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Depending on your goals, your implants can be placed in different positions within the breast.

Subglandular (above the muscle)

The implant is placed just behind your breast tissue. This can mean a quicker recovery and works best if you already have some natural breast tissue.

Submuscular (under the muscle)

The implant sits beneath your chest muscle to create a more natural slope and helps reduce the chance of visible rippling.

Dual plane

A blend of both placements, offering a natural shape with good implant coverage.

Your surgeon will guide you on what suits your body and plans best.

New & improved implants

Meet MemoryGel Xtra?

We’re constantly looking for ways to give you the very best care, and that includes offering the latest advancements in implant technology, like MemoryGel Xtra.

MemoryGel Xtra is one of Mentor’s most advanced breast implant ranges, designed for patients who want extra projection and volume while maintaining a soft feel.

Here's what makes MemoryGel Xtra special

Carefully tailored filling

The implants are precision filled, meaning a specific shell-to-gel ratio is used for each style and volume to reduce wrinkling while providing the desired projection.

Soft Natural feel

Despite the increased firmness, the implants are designed to feel soft and natural.

Improved shape retention

The increased firmness also helps minimise wrinkling and rippling, and the implant is designed to better maintain its shape over time.

More fullness and projection

These implants are filled to a higher capacity, which creates more upper breast volume for a rounder, fuller look.

Increased firmness

They have a greater firmness than standard MemoryGel implants, thanks to the proprietary cohesive silicone gel, but still maintain a soft, natural feel.

Profile options

MemoryGel Xtra implants are available in Moderate Plus and High Profile options.

The difference between MemoryGel and MemoryGel Xtra

MemoryGel

Mentor MemoryGel breast implants were launched in 2006, along with many features that have been replicated in its successor, MemoryGel Xtra. Using Mentor’s proprietary formulation of cohesive silicone gel, MemoryGel Implants replicate the feel of natural breasts while providing a more augmented and pert appearance.

MemoryGel Xtra

Mentor MemoryGel Xtra Implants have all the same features as their predecessors but are improved and expanded on.  Launched in 2017, MemoryGel Xtra implants have an enhanced shape and feel, as well as elasticity and integrity. All features can be attributed to their cohesive silicone gel composition and thinner cross-linked silicone elastomer shell.

Breast Implant Warranty

To help you to feel completely at ease, if you choose breast augmentation with MYA, you’ll automatically be part of the Mentor Promise Protection Plan, which gives you extra peace of mind. Here’s what’s included:

  • If there is a confirmed rupture, Mentor will replace the implant (same style) for life, free of charge

  • If the rupture happens within 10 years of surgery, Mentor provides financial help (up to €1,000) to cover surgery.

To claim on your MENTOR Protection Plan, you will need to contact your surgeon or provider so they can carefully assess you. If there is a suspected issue, your surgeon will need to log a complaint with Mentor by contacting their local representative.

Implant FAQ's

What are breast implants for?

Breast implants are used to help shape, enhance, or reconstruct the breasts to support your reasons, confidence, and comfort. You might hear it called breast augmentation, breast enlargement, breast enhancement, or even a ‘boob job.’ Basically, it’s all about creating an enhanced version of your breast, whether that be fuller, more balanced, or simply restoring what you had before from pregnancy, breast feeding, or weight loss.

Breast implants can also support transgender women who want to achieve a softer, more feminine chest as part of a gender-affirming journey, helping their outer appearance better reflect how they feel inside.

At the end of the day, we’ll tailor everything to suit your individual needs, in line with professional, medical guidance.
