Breast Implants

Breast implants are a popular choice for enhancing breast size and volume or achieving better balance and symmetry. Choosing the right implant involves considering several factors , including size, shape, profile, placement, and material, all of which can be tailored to your desired outcome.

Mentor Implants

MYA has been using  Mentor breast implants for 10+ years, and we are committed to providing our breast enlargement patients with the highest quality breast implants on the market.

Mentor is part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies and the leading manufacturer of breast implants in the world. With over 40 years of experience making breast implants, and a 98% patient satisfaction rate, MYA has chosen Mentor implants due to their outstanding and trustworthy reputation.

Mentor breast implants are used in breast enlargement procedures to increase the volume and size of the breasts. Mentor breast implants are made with medical-grade cohesive silicone gel that holds together uniformly while retaining the natural ‘give’ of breast tissue. The gel-like substance is soft to touch and maintains its shape with movement.

Implant Size

Implant size is measured in cc (cubic centimetres), not in cup sizes like bras. Implants typically range from 150cc to 800cc or more. CC is also the same as grams e.g. 300cc is the same as 300g.

A cup size cannot be guaranteed as all retailers measure slightly differently and every patients’ body is different. A 500cc implant can look much different on two different people because they will have different body frames and starting breast tissue. Someone with broad shoulders may need a larger or wider implant to achieve a full “D cup” compared to someone with a very small frame who is looking to achieve a similar cup size.

The ideal size depends on your body frame, existing breast tissue, and the look you want to achieve, whether that’s a subtle enhancement or a more noticeable transformation. During your consultation, your surgeon or patient coordinator will help you try different sizes using sizers, so you can visualise your new proportions before surgery.

Implant Shape

There are two main types of breast implant shapes:

  • Round implants: Create a fuller, more lifted appearance, especially in the upper part of the breast. They are a popular choice for patients seeking a more noticeable or “perkier” result.

  • Teardrop (anatomical) implants: Mimic the natural slope of the breast, with more volume at the bottom and a gentle taper towards the top. They’re ideal for a softer, more natural look.

Implant Profiles

The profile of an implant refers to how far it projects from the chest wall. Profiles typically range from:

  • Low profile: Offers a wider base with gentle projection – ideal for broader chests and a subtle look.

  • Moderate profile: Project from the chest more than low profile implants, but not as much as a high profile implant.

  • High/ Ultra high profile: Gives greater forward projection and fullness, suited to those wanting a more prominent appearance.

Implant Positioning

Implants can be placed in different positions within the breast:

  • Subglandular (above the muscle): The implant is placed directly behind the breast tissue. This approach can mean a quicker recovery, but it may not be suitable for patients with minimal natural tissue.

  • Submuscular (under the muscle): The implant is positioned beneath the chest muscle, providing a more natural slope and reducing the risk of visible rippling.

  • Dual plane: A combination of both placements, offering the benefits of a natural shape with good implant coverage.

New & improved implants

Have you heard of MemoryGel Xtra?

Memory Gel Xtra implants by Mentor are the latest and most advanced breast implant on the market. MemoryGel Xtra implants are a fuller implant designed to minimise rippling and capsular contraction, while creating a soft, natural feel.

MemoryGel Xtra implants are an excellent choice for women seeking both natural and added volume.

Key features of Memory Gel Xtra

  • Precision filling: The implants are precision filled, meaning a specific shell-to-gel ratio is used for each style and volume to reduce wrinkling while providing the desired projection.

  • Soft and natural feel: Despite the increased firmness, the implants  are designed to feel soft and natural

  • Improved shape retention: The increased firmness also helps minimise wrinkling and rippling, and the implant is designed to better maintain its shape over time.

  • Increased fullness and projection: These implants are filled to a higher capacity, which creates more upper breast volume for a rounder, fuller look.

  • Increased firmness: They have a greater firmness than standard MemoryGel implants, thanks to the proprietary cohesive silicone gel, but still maintain a soft, natural feel.

  • Available profiles: MemoryGel Xtra implants are available in Moderate Plus and High Profile options.

The difference between MemoryGel and MemoryGel Xtra

MemoryGel

Mentor MemoryGel breast implants were launched in 2006, along with many features that have been replicated in its successor, MemoryGel Xtra. Using Mentor’s proprietary formulation of cohesive silicone gel, MemoryGel Implants replicate the feel of natural breasts while providing a more augmented and pert appearance.

MemoryGel Xtra

Mentor MemoryGel Xtra Implants have all the same features as their predecessors but are improved and expanded on.  Launched in 2017, MemoryGel Xtra implants have an enhanced shape and feel, as well as elasticity and integrity. All features can be attributed to their cohesive silicone gel composition and thinner cross-linked silicone elastomer shell.

Implant Warranty

Our implant provider, Mentor,  provides a warranty program, whereby everyone who has Mentor implants is automatically enrolled in the MENTORPromise Protection Plan.

What this includes:

  • If there is a confirmed rupture, Mentor will replace the implant (same style) for life, free of charge

  • If the rupture happens within 10 years of surgery, Mentor provides financial help (up to €1,000) to cover surgery.

To claim on your MENTORProtection Plan, you will need to contact your surgeon or provider so they can carefully assess you. If there is a suspected issue, your surgeon will need to log a complaint with Mentor by contacting their local representative.
